<c0rnelius> getting wifi to work is usually no rocket science. bluetooth is normally more difficult.
<Armbian-Discord>
<c0rnelius> and even if you get bluetooth working, most of the time its iffy.

<Patricio> Hello!
<Armbian-Discord>
<Patricio> I'm having issues with cryptroot setup. Hardware (rock 4b, rk3399) is fully supported and works out-of-the-box with an unencrypted setup. When trying to get it to work with cryptroot (which compiles without error on virtualized Jammy) boot prompt gives up waiting for root filesystem device and drops to initramfs shell. Error is "ALERT! /dev/mapper/armbian-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell!"
<Armbian-Discord>
<Patricio> Thanks in advance for any help. I know I just need to tweak one thing, I just don't know where that one thing is.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Patricio> I haven't altered the system at all--flashed after compilation, didn't resize partitions or alter armbianEnv.txt. Did not flash directly from compilation environment, either.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> If it is was there at some point maybe it was removed because it wasn't broken and nobody fixed it. Try building your own image. Maybe config is a still there and may be building and booting works... Probably not

<Jason123> is armbian 23 out?
archetech has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> its ready, but not out yet, 25th is planned
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> weekend
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> tip of the day told me its out
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> hmm
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> oh, yeah
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> it was prepared
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> and it went out by mistake
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> this config file 😉
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> this config goes together with files and files are already synching to servers
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> index and news goes out for weekend
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> makes sense
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> mirror sync takes several days
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> 3588 is a very powerful machinery
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Yeah.. just sad software running it
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Indeed, I just realized that. Before it was a pain in the ass
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Yeah, but with panfork and amazingfate ppa this is a very solid desktop, rockchip linux desktop, but desktop at least
junaid_ has joined #armbian
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Still could be 100x better without the horrid Android hybrid core it has
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Oh sure, also, we know how rockchips works on mainline cpu wise. 10-20% gains
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Khadas has done some good gains on theirs but... you pay a premium
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> You should check this out if you didn't try it already @NicoD
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Khadas, what's that? Some kind of dishwasher? Haha
junaid_ has quit [Client Quit]
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Check out the Edge2 demo he has
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> That machine is wicked
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Yeah, but at that price... x86_64 haha
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> the RK3588/s run a old Android kernel converted to "Linux"
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> a kernel made for android converted to work with the linux userspace does not sound good
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Its horrible
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> even though the rk3399 might be old its not bad and it supports mainline
<archetech>
Linux version 5.10.110-37-rockchip-g74457be0716d rock5
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> It was suppose to be one of these "one kernel runs on everything"
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> everything meaning every rk3588?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> archetech: yeah and that came from either 2.x or 3.x codebase
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> converted to "look" like something like 5
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> It is "nothing" like the real Linux 5.x
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Yep
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> They are decent... just old and missing a lot of functionality sadly.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> not the hardware.. the kernels
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> its better than the android kernels that are put onto postmarketos
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I've manually been porting one of mine and got it up close to as new as 5.10 can go... but 6.x would be a world better
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> 5.10 is fine but not the rockchip kernel
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> yeah..
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> the orange pi zero works with upstream uboot and kernel that is in regular debian
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> @MicroLinux (Salva) No more Raspberry? How do you live with yourself :p I had checked obs since I saw it in the list of apps with multimedia ppa.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @NicoD heh I'm trying to get rid of all of mine too
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> BCM/RPI just are doing "nothing"
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> It's super hard, but I will keep trying to live my way hHaa
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> planing to replace my pi zero 2 with rockchip sbc
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Haahaa.. I wont touch x86 if I can help it anymore
junaid_ has joined #armbian
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Pi zero 2? What's that? Ahh yeah, those are the sbc one sells for ridiculous prices. Time to make so e cash jason
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> If I actually tried to sell my RPI's I could probably make a fortune
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> You are loosing your time dude
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Hahaha
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> meh
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> eh idk if i want to sell it just yet i need to transfer everything over to my new sbc
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> I'd rather give them to an educational/volunteer organization
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> The potatos can run rpi images afaik
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> So, it would be a good way to not having to do so
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> But they are old hw.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> i got the rk3328 libre computer
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> it does run pi images but i don't know if its just without a new install
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> besides my pi runs dietpi
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> If it doesnt have spi to do some uboot trickery, I doubt it would be able to do anything
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> doubt it has spi
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> it has a button that says uboot
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Also giving away my Raspberries. I'll keep the RPi400 for testing. But love my RK3588 devices. For me it's ready for daily use since I use it for my daily needs.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> haahaa
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> I like that the pi zero runs void linux
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> the only other arm device I got to boot void is the pinebook pro
<CosmicDJ>
my Rock 5b is still in it's package, the 5.10 rockchip kernel is not useable for me :(
<archetech>
CosmicDJ get a rpi4 5v wallwart
<archetech>
like $8
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> I dod the same with my 5B
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> But nowadays, with a proper armbian setup, rockchip linux is a real desktop
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> the only thing about the libre computer renegade is that it uses micro usb while the rock64 uses barrel jack but i don't have any issues with the micro usb
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> Yeah, it's a very old model
<Armbian-Discord>
<MicroLinux (Salva)> It was meant to compete with rpi3
<archetech>
Desktop: KDE Plasma v: 5.27.0 Distro: Linux Custom

<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> Even though its meant to be with the pi 3 it will be enough for my use
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> on my pi zero 2 the main thing is the ram is low
