OdoidXU4 really should have emmc, I do recommend tooand there is a BUT. one can have it with ubuntu. And now: One can get it with mate! First of all have a look at tasksel. So you can change to anything else. Do change. If you have a look at mate, you can understand.
mpmc is now known as HorrificShroud
<rtz>
To make most of OdroidXU4 and emmc just purge emmc and have armbian with Debian on it. Just CLI, no GUI, maybe a little X, that's it. And use installing Debian,

<Jason123> Is uboot ever updated?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> u-boot is patched often.. keep in mind these vulnerabilities like this one are only defined by default in it appears from my search a very limited set of SoC vendors
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> in u-boot-v2022.04 this is the only ones where CONFIG_IP_DEFRAG is defined by defult https://paste.debian.net/1243895/
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> a very limited set

<MicroLinux (Salva)> Those prices are ridiculous for arm based hw. Intell all the way
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> Then its fine if its only a limited amount of vendors
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> And if uboot is patched offen

<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> yeah there needs to be a new version soon anywy from what I read about some nvme and fdt handling patches overall
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> so this will be probably all fixed together

sheds a tear
<Macer>
finally pinebook pro is suspending to ram lol
<Macer>
still doesn't work with nvme in it but i'll just lighten the load on emmc
<lanefu>
what'd you say to it?
<lanefu>
to make it work
<Macer>
well.. there was a voodoo doll.... and a pentagram in the middle of my living room made of pig's blood
<nekomancer[m]>
and... did it... ammm.... resume?
<Macer>
nekomancer[m]: it did. but it needed levinboot to do it
<Macer>
or should i say it does
<Macer>
i've been testing it all day
<Macer>
this is manjaro though. just thought i'd pop in and say that it works in case the pbp armbian maintainer wanted to take that route
<nekomancer[m]>
Macer. The wizard.
<Macer>
not really
<Macer>
the pbp guys on their irc server are the real MVPs
* Macer
pours out some of his king cobra PREMIUM malt liquor from his 40 oz to honor them
<Macer>
but yah. it can do it. it works.
<Macer>
about 1-2%/hr of battery life tho.. but better than what i was doing lol
<Macer>
i can finally do what i wanted to do with it. charge once and use all day lol
<Macer>
which was the sole reason i bought it
<nekomancer[m]>
seems you bough it to lay in hybernation..
<Macer>
no
<Macer>
but i did buy it so i'd have something that would last longer than your typical x64
<Macer>
which is moot if you have to keep shutting it down when you're not using it then wait for it to boot then wait for a cached AD credential to kick in etc etc
<Macer>
or, even worse, just keep it on all day
<Macer>
which is what i've been doing the past week just because the cached credentials were taking too long to allow me to login as an AD user on it
<nekomancer[m]>
my x64 from old times, when 2H was a normal... but contemporary can work 6-10H
<Macer>
depends on the laptop. but most are around 6 hours
<Macer>
pbp can legit do 10-14 of office work. less if you're hitting it harder like watching videos on it in firefox
<Macer>
but i was getting home and having to find a charger because i ate up all the battery life keeping it on all day because i didn't want to deal with the waiting on it to boot and to login
<Macer>
can't wait to use it tomorrow tho :)
<nekomancer[m]>
...video decoding acceleration still an issue for firefox, or not already?
<Macer>
i know it hammers the cpu on the pbp
<Macer>
using my plex server even when direct playing eats up battery life in ff
<nekomancer[m]>
heh. my pbp lays in box about a year — it stops to boot. poor pbp.
