OK. Got my vision5/2 board today. My "goal" is FreeBSD. Heh. The google groups that are referenced in the email are pretty lame. Is this channel associated with the project in any way (or does anyone know where they hang?) ...?
<zBeeble>
BTW... I have an unmatched in which I have been creating friendly public accounts for people working on RISCV stuff. It's FreeBSD14 and has a public IP.

So... I have the flash module from the board on the little board that ends in an microsd pinout. I've got the whole thing plugged into a micro-sd to USB thing --- but it's not showing up as having any media (according to my FreeBSD machine)
<mps>
zBeeble: did you inserted emmc module on this mmc-emmc adapter
<zBeeble>
yes
<mps>
hm, it also shows dmesg error on my machine
<mps>
linux, not *BSD

<mps>
but on VF2 board emmc module works fine
<Tenkawa>
mps: Is it one of the dual socket emmc chips?
<Tenkawa>
Some of those have been flaky for me...
<Tenkawa>
if it is
<zBeeble>
two connectors.
<zBeeble>
... so I don't need to futz with it..?
heat_ is now known as heat

if you're talking about the emmc connectors on the VF2 board, only one is "active"

<mps>
Tenkawa: you mean two connectors on emmc module
<Tenkawa>
yeag
<Tenkawa>
er yeah
<mps>
yes, I have this one
<Tenkawa>
unsigned: the chips though that have two are sometimes not as "well built"
<Tenkawa>
yeah I have run into quality issues with some
<mps>
Tenkawa: btw, did you built kernel with patches I posted on url to you
<Tenkawa>
I'm hoping I might have discovered a consistency in some of the NVMe IO slowness people have seen with some of the boards... I'm finding consistent patterns of the actual drives itself and its physical makeup.
<Tenkawa>
mps: Not yet.. I'm still trying to get both of my Linux instances stablilized now that I may have discovered something with the actual drives
<Tenkawa>
I have 8 drives I'm testing right now (a few are dupe models)... but I have had varying IO patterns from the different models just on startup
