I was going to try to adapt an existing JH7110 build for it but the only OS builds I've found are Yocto based... I don't mind working on the kernel however I am much more comfortable with Debian root's than other builds

yeah, really unless there's some weird hardware that requires special userspace stuff, I just start with a riscv64-debian on a different system
