just made some test with fontsizes and this much more weird - so different fonts have the same ascent but Letter have different height (full block or pipe are same)

and using a | the ascent of size 100 is 100.672 while normal Letter (X M H) will have 97.024

so from what i can see the fontsize in inkscape a 100mm Letter A is 68.799mm which would be a 72.053 size Letter in open SCAD
