J1A84: That's generally the structure of spam, as it's unsolicited, but also it might be exactly what we've been wanting someone to create.

Perhaps it's at least reasonably well targetted to people who actually seem to be looking for it (i.e., people who fled thingiverse and are using github).
<InPhase>
I really don't have a whole lot of confidence in the "here's a tip for you" model of distributing downloads as being important. Thingiverse had that too, and pretty much no one ever used it. :)
<J1A84>
i would assume irv shapiro hand picket these adresses - or AI bots are far more advanced as i thought
<InPhase>
I enabled it at one point on thingiverse, and I think I got $2 one time, out of what must be somewhere around 30,000-40,000 downloads.
<InPhase>
I enabled it under no illusions of it working though, as a just to see what happens check.
<InPhase>
J1A84: It might have been a small handpicked group. There are very few models actually on that site.
<J1A84>
people can tip me via my bank account - never happens .. we seen this with jamendo (free music) that it is difficult
<InPhase>
J1A84: You and I both have libraries on the OpenSCAD webpage, and if I were not around here, that would be a place I would target. But if doing so I would do a better job of making that look like a personal email and not a commercial email. ;)
<J1A84>
at least the tracking is via cogitations links (not external) Ü
aiyion1 is now known as aiyion
<J1A84>
But as i track mails backwards - unless mails send to the appropriate address , i am a little vigilant
<J1A84>
.. also as my designs are CC0 it should be legal to just copy them to their platform Ü
<InPhase>
The address he contacted on is my github address, but also the one I have plastered all over such as on my website and in all of my scientific journal articles. That one is pretty easy to track down for me.
<InPhase>
Right, that I also thought of. But probably he wants to build a community rather than just stuff it with models.
<InPhase>
(Or he doesn't know.)
<J1A84>
i just found out about the community on printables -- always wonder what sense it make to follow someone if you didn't get any news about
<InPhase>
One really needs it to be a community though to reasonably take the place of thingiverse.
<J1A84>
i thought (years ago) it would be good to have a website with my designs .. turns out nobody finds this without community
<InPhase>
Yep.
<J1A84>
does resolved issues always got locked on github?
<teepee>
no
<teepee>
at this point that's purely manual
<J1A84>
sorry i meant " why do you lock them?"
<J1A84>
seems github has no (Private) Messaging feature
<teepee>
when I suspect that the discussion might go into some strange direction. like the latest ones of ScottNudds who's now the one and only on the blocking list
<J1A84>
yeah i suspect he has some psychological issues
<teepee>
lol, "Joined github 25 days ago"
<teepee>
now is that a record of some sort getting blocked 25 days after joining github?
<InPhase>
I bet not. :)
<J1A84>
i mean doesn't make sense to insult the only people able to help .. he made that account after he was here with a question (iirc)
<teepee>
InPhase: sadly you are probably right
<teepee>
hmm, that's a shame, but I don't see any reason to accept this kind of language and the 2 other comments on one of the issues showed I'm not alone in that
<J1A84>
if you can not relate to feelings you would not understand that .. i find this intriguing from a psychological/neurological point
<J1A84>
but an "issue" is not the place to discuss this .. so no objection here - still would like to contact that user privately to find out what is wrong with him
<J1A84>
( not if you can not relate - but if one (he) can not relate ) ..
<J1A84>
who knows maybe he is 13 and in puberty rage
<teepee>
yeah, I don't think there's any official way for private contact. the only way would be a comment on some issue
