<tm512> I'm still struggling to use ffmpeg to generate a test RTMP stream, where network issues cause ffmpeg to register dropped frames
lavaball has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<tm512> x11grab has the behavior I'm after, but taking a test recording, along with the -re flag, does not behave like x11grab. if the network would cause frames to drop, it just pauses the input stream
<tm512> I can see why that's a useful thing, but I specifically want to simulate an unpausable input stream
<tm512> lavfi with the testsrc filter has the same issue as taking a file as input
<tm512> the only thing I can think of is to use two ffmpeg instances. one actually taking the input file or lavfi stream, and outputting to something like a v4l2loopback device, with the other ffmpeg instance reading from the other end of that and streaming over RTMP
<tm512> I'm suspecting there's an issue with ffmpeg's native RTMP implementation, because I ran TwitchTest under Wine, and to basically all of twitch's injest servers nearby, it was able to sustain >10Mbit throughputs, yet ffmpeg can't stream 5Mbit
<tm512> even struggles (to a lesser extent) with 3Mbit

<tm512> just running x11grab and streaming to an RTMP server I have on my LAN, and even here, ffmpeg is somehow managing to drop frames, though fewer, and less frequently, than over the internet

<iconoclast_hero> how do I remove the m4a tags during conversion with ffmpeg?
<iconoclast_hero> I don't have the orginal m4a on hand anymore, but this isn't working:
<iconoclast_hero> `ffmpeg -i Fun\ \[2008-10-23\].opus -acodec copy -metadata major_brand='' -metadata minor_version='' -metadata compatible_brands='' Fun\ \[2008-10-23\].t.opus ; mi Fun\ \[2008-10-23\].t.opus`
<another|> -map_metadata -1

<tm512> Cracki: yes, I realized that after I had already sent the message. I know how to spell ingest, but I had some kind of brain fart
<iconoclast_hero> doesn't -1 remove all the metadata? i wanted to leave the author, performer, date, rating, description fields.
