It was a chrony update that prompted beerman's latest nitpicks about source urls (http -> https). Shortly thereafter, I heard about this phenomenon "can't update local time because we can't resolve domain names because we don't have correct local time!" https://cyounkins.medium.com/encrypted-dns-ntp-deadlock-9e378940b79f

Just a weird coincidence; it probably won't affect any non-embedded-device installations of chrony (or other NTP clients).
