What's the latest greatest libre board to develop on nowadays? (e.g. ULX3S, trellisboard ?)
<d1b2>
<zyp> I'm not gonna make any claims around which is greatest since that's specific to what you're doing, but the butterstick can probably be considered the latest at least
<d1b2>
<zyp> I don't think the board design itself is libre, but it's ecp5-based so all the tools you need to work with it are, which is what matters to me

ya, i would like some libre hardware with kicad. butterstick looks nice.
<d1b2>
<dragonmux> If you don't need something ECP5 based, then you could also go for a board like the iCEBreaker which is iCE40 based, open hardware and still uses the open tools
<d1b2>
<dragonmux> the OC and Butterstick are both great looking boards though
<forksand>
I'd rather go more powerful, more ram, than less, so ecp5 over ice40. I wasnt sure if there was a xilinx board that was viable yet. That would be the next step up, or a next generation Lattice.
<gatecat>
tbh, ecp5 is still the best way to go (and the toolchain for it has actually had some notable improvements still in the last two weeks)
<forksand>
Cool. Ok, I have a trellisboard I really like, but I've been out of the loop. I look forward to seeing all the latest/greatest changes. :) I shoulda taken better notes though, I can't even power it on. ;)
<gatecat>
there's an errata; it's missing the CC resistors so it won't work with a C-C cable
<gatecat>
you have to use a A-C cable if you want to power it from USB

Thanks! Good to hear from you by the way. I'm literally dusting off some of these parts, git pulling, etc.
