<Momentum> Hi
<Momentum> imv doesn't seem to work in river for some reason. anyone knows why is that?
<ifreund> imv is pretty broken and seems mostly unmaintained
<ifreund> Ive reported bugs there that have gone unanswered for years
<ifreund> Ideally it would mostly work but just have visual glitches since imv makes frame perfection impossible, I dont recall the current state of things with latest river and imv though
<Momentum> ifreund: do you know of any good image viewer that i can use with river?
<Momentum> minimal would be good
<Momentum> something like sxiv and imv
<vyivel> mpv :)
<Momentum> mpv seems a bit much for viewing images, no?
<Momentum> and probably is not meant to be used for that
<vyivel> wearewaylandnow lists nomacs and swayimg, maybe try them
<Momentum> Thank you!
<ifreund> Ive mostly been using firefox, guess I'll try out MPV though
<ifreund> huh, phone thinks mpv should be capitalized

<leon-p> I've just been using eog, works reasonably well. if you use a dconf editor you can change some of its hidden config options which make it a bit nicer

<Momentum> i settled with loup. not the most minimal for sure, but it seems good
<leon-p> loup has better UI than eog, however I find it's sandboxed image loader to be quite slow and it often fails with useless error messages
<leon-p> f.e. it sometimes fails because it tries to spawn a command which is too long. truely bizarre
<leon-p> also it sometimes fails to read valid images
<Nickli> dont think i have heard of loup before

<basrandir> Hi all, is it possible to chord keybindings together using riverctl? Like Emacs does or what's possible with sxhkd?
<Nickli> think you can do something like it with modes
fitrh has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<basrandir> Oh yeah, I guess that makes it. I'll give it a shot
<Nickli> otherwise you can try out https://git.sr.ht/~shinyzenith/swhkd

<The_Buhs> ^^
<basrandir> yeah creating a new mode and mapping new keybinding there works to chord key sequences. It's a little more involved but potentially more powerful too. Thanks.

<leon-p> basrandir: one could f.e. create a small "compiler" which takes as input a list of emacs-esque key sequences like "S-x t 2" and then creates all the modes and individual mappings (as well as inserting a bunch of -g mappings to abort if you want to be true to emacs)
<leon-p> although, as with so many things right now, #1100 will deprecate that
<basrandir> oh yeah, a C-g mapping to "abort" and go back to normal mode would be a good idea.
alexherbo2 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<leon-p> since river has no problem with the user trying to declare the same mode multiple times, the compiler can be incredibly simple
<leon-p> could probably be more elegant, but I am on a train so whatever
<basrandir> what I've done is to have regular press and release mappings for the same key in the new mode. The regular mapping does the action I want. The release mapping go back to normal mode.

<pinpoxIRC> Heyho, any chance to get window decorations in river? If planned, any issue I can follow on the progress?
belanthor has joined #river
<ifreund> pinpoxIRC: it's planned to make it possible for window managers to implement SSD, you can follow https://codeberg.org/river/river/pulls/1100
<vyivel> "river: delete wlr-layer-shell-v1 support", nice
<pinpoxIRC> ifreund: thanks, I looked through the issues but couldn't find it. I'll sub to this one then
<ifreund> vyivel: lowkey don't want to add it back but I probably should...
<vyivel> do river users not use bars/notification daemons/desktop widgets/region selection tools
<ifreund> vyivel: well yes they do, but these could in theory be implemented by the window manager using river_shell_suface_v1s
<ifreund> like I said, I probably need to add it back but the code was getting in my way too much at this stage of that branch so I dropped it for now
<pinpoxIRC> is the wlr-layer-shell-v1 support the decoration thingy?
<pinpoxIRC> or are we talking about undrelated stuff?
<ifreund> unrelated stuff
