Hey there! After my newest system update river does not start anymore. I am trying to debug it, but I am currently very flabbergasted.
<maralorn>
The update updated river from 3.1 to 3.2
<maralorn>
The error message I get is:
<maralorn>
error(wlroots): [render/egl.c:209] EGL_EXT_platform_base not supported
<maralorn>
What is completely beyond me: I use nixos. When I boot the updated system and start river I get this error. (repeatedly when I try multiple times.) When I then rollback the update to the previous state and then do the update again without starting wayland or rebooting in between it works.
<maralorn>
At first I thought it might have something to do with the kernel (6.9.5) (because before the update it was 6.9.2), but just switching back and forth during the running system does not switch the kernel, so it does not obviously seem related.

maralorn: I don't know anything about nix but that error suggests you are missing userland opengl drivers
<maralorn>
Ah, why use google when you can annoy other people instead, sorry.^^
<ifreund>
no worries!
<maralorn>
And you are right. When I run the update my system diff shows that it is removing opengc drivers.^^
<maralorn>
*opengl
<ifreund>
now what I don't know is why the nixos river package doesn't cause opengl drivers to get pulled in
<ifreund>
that seems like a bug with the nixos packaging
<maralorn>
I agree.
<maralorn>
More concretely the question is what pulled in the OpenGL drivers until now but suddenly stopped doing that. That is an annoying change on a stable release branch.^^
