<AlmostSurelyRob> Hi,
<AlmostSurelyRob> I do a spot of volunteering surveying for OpenStreetMaps, as I am sure we all do! I am struggling though to open JOSM, an OSM editor written in Java, in River. I get a splash screen, go through an update plugin process and then I get a blank screen. This was also happening on Sway so it's not River specific, but I thought maybe someone here knows
<AlmostSurelyRob> if there's a fix? It does work on Gnome Shell. Here's a wlroot error I am capturing when opening JOSM:

<vyivel> AlmostSurelyRob: try with _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1
<AlmostSurelyRob> Thanks, vyivel, that did work.

<vespakoen> Hi all! I just installed linux after a long time away from it due to work requirements, and I found river with which I am trying to replicate my old xmonad config. So far things are pretty fine but there are 2 things I am missing: 1. Something like the main-ratio but for the vertical tiles, I use maximum 3 tiles per workspace, and I would love to
<vespakoen> control the vertical ratio for the 2 tiles on the right side (default) of the sceen. is there already a tiles that can handle something like that? 2. I figured out I can use wdisplays to configure the DPI scale, which works fine but doesn't seem to persist between logout/ins. all in all, really happy so far with river, thanks!

<ThatGuestAgain> vespakoen I'm not sure about others, but you can definitly implement that in luatile. I've done it there (but didn't keep my config from then)

<vespakoen> Just saw your answer in the logs (I disconnected while setting up keybindings ;)) thanks for that, will look into luatile
<ThatGuestAgain> It takes a bit of patience to get the own code to do the correct thing, but once I was used to it, it was perfect since it has no limitations other than those inherent to river itself.
<ThatGuestAgain> Still have it installed in case I want back to tiling (yes I currently use river as a floating wm 😅)
<vespakoen> Yeah I think I might fork river and see if I can "patch it in", always wanted to give zig ago so this seems like a good excuse =)
<ThatGuestAgain> Patch it into rivertile you mean?
<vespakoen> uhh yes correct, that's what I meant ;)
<vespakoen> Another question, I noticed some (most?) apps don't render the border from river, for example, firefox doesn't have the border, whereas foot does have one, any ideas what is causing that?

<ThatGuestAgain> Perhaps the app uses a different ssd/csd setting than you expect. You can set up per-app rules for that.
<ThatGuestAgain> `riverctl rule-add -app-id ___ ssd
<ThatGuestAgain> (Or if you want to make it a global rule)
<vespakoen> Awesome, "riverctl rule-add ssd" worked

<ThatGuestAgain> Yeah thats the global version. Might just make some apps look weird that are designed with csd in mind. But I think I'll try it globally now, I rarely use those apps.
<vespakoen> I see, I just wasn't sure how to query for the --app-id so I gave up quickly ;) all seems fine with the global setting for now anyways, but good to know!
<ThatGuestAgain> Btw, one dash. River always has one, not two, even for wordy options.

<novakane> vespakoen: you can use lswt for app-id https://sr.ht/~leon_plickat/lswt/
