<Guest45>
Do your versions of river and riverctl match?"
<Guest45>
I use river from debian... is it shiete ?
<ifreund>
it sounds like you're running riverctl outside of a river session
<ifreund>
it needs to have WAYLAND_DISPLAY set to river's wayland socket in it's environment
<ifreund>
I suspect this is a problem caused by swhkd using a separate process to execute the commands or something like that
<Guest45>
yes I ran it in a terminal, but I can't get any shortcut I programmed in swhkdrc so I'm looking for an explanation

What do you guys use for alt-tab in river ?
<hmht>
I don't have alt-tab bound to anything, if that's what you mean.
<cathalo>
I am refering to the way of being able to press alt-tab and go to the previously focused output
<cathalo>
i.e. image the following window ids being focused: 1 [Super + j] -> 2 [ alt + tab ] -> 1 [ alt + tab ] -> 2

<belanthor>
you could map focus-view next and focus-view previous

<cathalo>
I understand that, but that is more mental overhead. All I usually have open is terminal and browser, so one unified way to swap between them makes sense
<gbrlsnchs>
cathalo: riverctl map normal Super Tab focus-previous-tags
<gbrlsnchs>
that's what I have bound to toggle between two tags
<gbrlsnchs>
I'm not totally sure, but I think this toggling behavior is only available for tags...?
<cathalo>
that is all I need, thanks !

<ifreund>
`riverctl zoom` is kinda related for toggling between windows currently visible on an output

hi ifreund
<Franciman>
is there a way to reload river's config on the fly?
<gbrlsnchs>
Franciman: you can run the newly added commands in a terminal to apply them on the fly. Otherwise you have to stop river and start it again
