<CelestialCrafter> hiya! what's an urgent view and how do i trigger one?
<CelestialCrafter> and are there any apps that trigger urgent views by default?
angry_vincent has joined #river
<LarstiQ> CelestialCrafter: try in a shell `sleep 5 && echo ^V^G` (Control-V Control-G for the bell character) and switch to a different tag
<CelestialCrafter>  doesnt do anything, i may have disabled it i dont remember
<CelestialCrafter> is there a riverctl command to make sure its enabled
<CelestialCrafter> wait let me try echo -e
<LarstiQ> maybe your terminal requires configuration
<CelestialCrafter> nope
<CelestialCrafter> im using foot
<CelestialCrafter> let me check
<LarstiQ> [bell] urgent = yes; notify = yes
<LarstiQ> for foot
<CelestialCrafter> didnt.. do anything
<CelestialCrafter> ?
<CelestialCrafter> its just printing ^V^G so i think its the echo
<CelestialCrafter> worked!
<CelestialCrafter> i had to echo '^V^G' with singlequotes
<LarstiQ> are you typing literal ^ or holding the control key?
<CelestialCrafter> oh lol
<CelestialCrafter> i typed the literal ^ the first time i tried it
<CelestialCrafter> and the time it worked i used ctrl
<LarstiQ> that tracks :)
<CelestialCrafter> pretty useful; ill keep it enabled
<CelestialCrafter> thank you!!!
<novakane> echo -e '\a' do the tricks too

<maralorn> Hey, there. Quick question: Can the layout manager trigger, that the wm requests the layout again. Especially in response of receiving a custom command from the user?
leopoldek has joined #river
<leon-p> maralorn: kinda, but it's a hack: the layout manager can send itself a layout command
<leon-p> arguably the custom command you wish to implement should be done via layout command in the first place, so you avoid this entire problem
<maralorn> Maybe I meant the wrong thing with "custom command".
<maralorn> I meant something like changing a column width.
<leon-p> yeah, you should do that via layout command
<leon-p> it will trigger a new layout demand automatically
<leon-p> and unconditionally
<maralorn> Excellent, thanks!
