<Guest46> how do I change the gap size for river?
Guest46 has quit [Client Quit]
<n0r> That depends on the layout generator.

<miyoku157> Hi, I'm trying to launch river on void linux. And i have some difficulties^^ (https://www.reddit.com/r/voidlinux/comments/zgstnd/cant_use_river_tiling_manager_with_void_linux/)
<miyoku157> To resume, when i launch river, i just have a black screen, no input is recognized and i can't do anything. I was wondering if there is a way to have some logs of what happening?
<novakane> miyoku157: river from the void package repo? you can launch river with `river -log-level debug &>river.log`
<miyoku157> Yes river from the void package repo (i try to keep things simple for now). I know that the init config file on the repo can't work with this version, so i'm using this one: https://0x0.st/oNZ1.sh
<miyoku157> And i try to launch river that way, but as i've a black screen, my only way to go back to my VM is to shutdown it and i don't think the log are capture correctly (because river doesn't exit correctly i guess) The log are just empty
<n0r> So switching tty doesn't work anymore either?
<miyoku157> damn it, i didn't even think about it.  Yes i got some logs^^
<miyoku157> The first error i can see is :
<miyoku157> libEGL warning: egl: failed to create dri2 screen
<miyoku157> error(wlroots): [EGL] command: eglInitialize, error: EGL_NOT_INITIALIZED (0x3001), message: "DRI2: failed to create screen"

<novakane> could be a problem of drver with the VM
<novakane> you have mesa-dri installed?
<miyoku157> Yes, i think i found the problem. On virtual box the 3d acceleration wasn't activate. Now i have the blue screen i'm suppose to get. But no key is working. Still it's a progress^^.
<novakane> btw if you decide to use river after you test I would advise to get a zig tarball on their website and build river from source as river on void is really outdated
<miyoku157> I note that

<edrex[m]> Hi ifreund leon-p :)
<edrex[m]> I was just holding onto what I had the last 18mo or so of learning NixOS, but now things are better so I'm doing a userspace update, and finally switching to away from sway for good. I might try other stuff here and there, but I think river is going to be my main shell.
<edrex[m]> If you're curious what got better: I finally gave Home-Manager, which I've always known adds an awkward intermediation between the operator and their dotfiles, the proverbial boot, in preference to yadm. It feels so good to need to make a change to your config, open the file in the editor, make the change, and see the result right away. Funny the contortions folks put themselves through because it's "the done thing".
<edrex[m]> So I'm dusting off my config and looking at what's new.

<gbrlsnchs> did anyone here manage to have that annoying Firefox microphone indicator as a floating window by default?
<tleydxdy[m]> sounds like a firefox bug
<gbrlsnchs> tleydxdy[m]: yeah, it is ;-; https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1628431
