<vipulogmx> NickH: i tried out your repo the day I replied to you. However right from that day till now I was unable to get it working. I don't know what is causing it. I'm using MX which is debian bullseye based. It uses sysv as default init I am 99% sure that's not the issue. I have the default init config in my xdg-config dir at ~. The error log that 'river -log-level debug' outputs is this, https://ezup.dev/p/1s0tmz . If you or any other member know
<vipulogmx> what's happening here do let me know.
<vipulogmx> Hmm I'm sorry and no need to worry now, because now river is working normally just logged in via lightdm. Ignore the above query.
<vipulogmx> Alright I have found the culprit. After powering on the machine and logging in via lightdm into river. The first time it works as expected. If i logout and log back in then i get a black screen. Few second of cursor blinks and then exits to lightdm. This is a Problem
<vipulogmx> However if i log the third time using tty then i can successfully log in to river. And the life is weird
<NickH> Hmm, I'm not sure, but I don't think those errors are related to the packages. To me it looks like something to do with running under X11... but I'm no expert.
<NickH> What happens if you launch river from a tty?
<NickH> Sorry, just noticed that you said that it works from a tty.

<NickH> As for problems with logging into river a 2nd time from lightdm: how did you log out? "riverctl exit"? Something else?
<leon-p> pretty sure lightdm does not support Wayland sessions. And yes, the logs indeed show that river here is running as a window inside X.
<NickH> Ok, so the way forward would be: Sayonara X11
<leon-p> the problem is probably that lightdm auto-starts X and things river is a X WM. So the solution would be to dump lightdm and use something else to start river (can recommend greetd)

<NickH> vipulogmx: if you want to keep using a login manager then I guess you should find one that supports wayland sessions, but does not require systemd.
<NickH> Guessing MX doesn't have greetd.
<NickH> Seems that if Debian stable is a bad choice for using river, MX is even worse!

<vipulogmx> I log out using super+S+e
<vipulogmx> I can get greetd i guess won't be a problem
<vipulogmx> I'll check for greetd and see what happens. You don't learn when everything works but you learn when everything don't worry. :)
