<pkap>
I think outputs can only be focused with next/previous or with a direction, but not specifically like "focus output X". (Thats what I infer from the riverctl manpage)

<pkap>
But what you could "focus the next/previous output and then focus tag 3.
<pkap>
I don't know if there is a better way to chain riverctl commands on mapping but I just use `... spawn "riverctl <command1> && riverctl <command2>"`
<ifreund>
yeah that's hte only way to do it currently
<ifreund>
river really isn't all that flexible at this point, but seems to have reached a good level of stability for the features it does support
<ifreund>
once I'm through with exams I plan to release 0.1.0 and then get to work on breaking things for more flexiblity
<Hazoune>
river = chad
<pkap>
It is really stable in my opinion. I haven't had any crash yet after some weeks of using it.
<ifreund>
that should be the expectation of all software tbh
<pkap>
True.
<pkap>
But the window manager/compositor is critical because everything is gone upon crash.
<pkap>
Do you guys use applications that "minimize to tray"? E.g qbitorrent does this. And once it is minimized it is gone and cannot be brought up again.
<pkap>
When click "
<pkap>
When click "show" in the qbittorrent tray icon, nothing happens.
<pkap>
Is this a bug or can I somehow bring up the window again?
<ifreund>
pkap: it probably assumes that you've got some dbus based tray thing running, I think waybar has support for that if you want one
<ifreund>
oh, I didn't read far enough. It looks like you do have a tray but qbittorrent has a bug

<pkap>
Yes the tray is working correctly.
<pkap>
In just tested the same in sway and it works over there.
<ifreund>
that's interesting. WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 logs of qbittorrent under sway and river would be useful if you want to open a river issue
<pkap>
Let me test other applications with this "minimize to tray".
<ifreund>
specifically, logs of it re-opening/failing to re-open
<pkap>
Ok I will do.
<pkap>
I will open an issue once I tested this further :)
<pkap>
qbittorrent runs under Xwayland. Sorry I didn't check this before.
<ifreund>
oh, yeah I wouldn't be all that surprised to learn about xwayland bugs under river, I just got it to the point where I could run spotify without issues and moved on
<pkap>
Installing the qt5-wayland package fixed qbittorrent. So this is definitely a bug in river XWayland, I tested another "minimize to tray"-XWayland-app and it's the same.
<pkap>
ifreund: So if you don't work on XWayland anymore (which is fine for me), I guess it's better not to open an issue about this?
<ifreund>
pkap: a bugs still a bug, even if I won't be jumping to fix it right away. Please do open an issue to track this
<pkap>
Alright :)

about stability of river - don't have any issues with river since started using, documentation is great, example config as well
<dimaom>
thanks pkap for suggestion about chaining riverctl calls
<dimaom>
watched zigshow video about river and zig - interesting introduction ifreund, the only issue was super small font in terminal :D
