<jrtc27> 96 MHz is a strange number, almost sounds like they couldn't quite get timing closure at 100 MHz...
<solrize> does anyone know what Thread is?
<jrtc27> more IoT crap https://www.threadgroup.org
<gatecat> multiples of 12MHz are useful for USB, that might be where 96MHz comes from
<solrize> ah thanks

<GenTooMan> yeah that is what I would have suggested it's also <100MHz and can be easier to generate without a Fraction PLL DPLL or what have you.
<xentrac> I guess 12.500 MHz crystals aren't that common but 10MHz and 20MHz crystals are
<xentrac> guessing 12Mbps USB is the more significant feature

<solrize> i wonder why they didn't make it the same speed as other esp32 stuff which is 200+ mhz
<solrize> will it be super low powered and/or super cheap ?
<xentrac> zigbee suggests so?
