< zoq[m]1> ABHINAV ANAND wow, that are some really nice improvements!
< ABHINAVANAND[m]> This contains the details about the method.
< NippunSharmaGitt> Hey @rcurtin I had a question regarding my project (revamping mlpack bindings). While writing the proposal there are certain things (such as changing documentation) that I am not exactly sure how I will finally end up implementing (because during any sort of refactoring there can be certain errors or problems that can arise and we cannot know exactly beforehand). What should I do in this case?

< jonpsy[m]> in our ensmallen appveyor why do we build ```armadillo.sln``` when in the end we are only using its INCLUDE path in ```ensmallen```?
< jonpsy[m]> * in our ensmallen appveyor why do we build `armadillo.sln` when in the end we are only using its INCLUDE headers in `ensmallen`?
< AakashkaushikGit> Hey Everyone, I have submitted a draft of my proposal through GSoC if someone can take a look at the actual proposal I built that would be really really helpful in fine-tuning it further and toning or upping the proposal items. Really stocked for this. :D
< RishabhGargGitte> > `rcurtin (@ryan:ratml.org)` Rishabh Garg (Gitter): take a look how it's used; it's sometimes called on the first column of a matrix, sometimes on the second; passing a pointer avoids creating an Armadillo object wrapped around that memory (from which we'd just be accessing the memory anyway)
< RishabhGargGitte> Okay. Thanks :)

< jenkins-mlpack2> Project mlpack - git commit test build #682: UNSTABLE in 1 hr 6 min: http://ci.mlpack.org/job/mlpack%20-%20git%20commit%20test/682/
< RishabhGargGitte> Hey all, I have submitted my draft proposal on the GSoC website. Being my first time, I am pretty sure it is prone to many errors. I would love to hear feedback about it. It would be a great help for me. :-) Thanks!
< RishabhGargGitte> Also, I have a question, we will be getting feedback from you through the GSoC website or on the google doc itself ?
< ABD> Hello Everyone
< ABD> My name is Muhuammed Abdullah, a sophomore from VNIT, Nagpur. I would like to collaborate on the project "Improvisation and Implementation of ANN Modules". Could you please help me where to get started..
< ABD> Are there any required tests/quiz to be given? 3. Where should I begin with ?
< RishabhGargGitte> Hello @ABD-01 , the best place to get started will be to get your hands dirty with the codebase, give a shot at a couple of good first issues to get the hang of the workflow and then you may focus on whatever you feel like doing. Let us know if you need any help. :)
< ABD> Yeah, Sure.
< ABD> Thanks
< zoq> ABD: Also we don't require any previous code submissions, but of course its helpful.
< jonpsy[m]> Hey zoq , I wanted to discuss something
< jonpsy[m]> ping me back?
< zoq> jonpsy[m]: I'
< zoq> ll get back to you later.
< jonpsy[m]> Ohk
< jeffin143[m]> <RishabhGargGitte "Also, I have a question, we will"> Yes , the same doc
< jeffin143[m]> * Yes , the same doc , someone will comment the feedback on the doc

< zoq> Roshan[m]: Hello there, you are not late, in case you are searching for a starting point checkout - https://www.mlpack.org/gsoc.html
< Roshan[m]> I went through the ideas page. I wanted to ask if I want to discuss on a personal project idea rather than the provided one, which mentors can I contact?
< zoq> Roshan[m]: We like to discuss project on public channels, so if possible either use the mailinglist or IRC, Gitter, etc.
< Roshan[m]> zoq Thanks. So can I assume that I can propose idea here and if any mentor is interested, we can further discuss on it?
< zoq> Roshan[m]: Yes
< Roshan[m]> So, I went through the codebase and in src/mlpack/methods, though there are several algorithms, but for boosting I could only one method which is Adaboost( Sorry, if I am wrong on this). So, I wanted to propose to work on other boosting algorithm implementations for including Xgboost, GradienBoosting, CatBoost and Light GBM. So if any mentor is interested in this idea , we can discuss further. Thank you.

< ABHINAVANAND[m]> Hey, I have submitted a draft of my proposal on GSOC page. Till when can I expect a feedback.
< zoq> ABHINAVANAND[m]: Just took a first pass and left some comments.
