I was going through Andrew's coursera course, I came across Octave language

My goal in the next year or so is to completely understand the basics of ML and contribute to organizations such as mlpack.

Is it recommended to learn octave?

Batman_: mlpack is written in C++, however octave is still a good start, since the syntax of armadillo, the linear algebra library we use is similar: http://arma.sourceforge.net/docs.html#syntax
