Having discovered ofono scripts I had high hopes of finding the answer but no. I think the apn name is the issue for no data and the command to set it requires the PATH variable. When I use the modem system PATH retreived using an info script I get an error stating the PATH contains an illegal character "."

22:29 <Wizzup> so you would need to use conversations to send/receive smses now, which will give you a better experience overall, but there is one catch: you can only start an initial sms with a contact, so make a contact for your mom, go to her contact card, click sms, and you'll get a window to send her a sms
