Wizzup: it seems I will have to fix/upstream ofono all over the place before having working phone applet
<freemangordon>
IIUC only n900 has more or less complete driver in ofono (and not only)
<Wizzup>
can we live without some of these things for phone applet for now, or?
<freemangordon>
sure we can, but I don;t want to get back to same code again and again, I want to fix it once and for all and move on
<freemangordon>
I want to have it working at least for qmimodem, to be sure I had all thus functionality in the applet in place and working

I already have all the needed data (for qmimodem) so it will happen fast
<freemangordon>
later on maybe I can work on d4 modem - upstreaming and adding missing functionality
<freemangordon>
I know that was not the plan, but...
<freemangordon>
keep in mind this looks like window of opportunity re ofono - development is very active lately
<Wizzup>
agreed
<sicelo>
yes things are moving really fast ofono side (and i'm proud of my little contributions to it). i wonder what's their long-term plan though ... nearly no one wants to use ofono for anything now
<Wizzup>
sailfish uses it
<Wizzup>
we use it
<Wizzup>
others seem to be use
<Wizzup>
gnome/redhat folks will always do their own things regardless so I wouldn't worry too much
<Wizzup>
in any case I'm also back on conversations, had ~2 weeks of lots of work
<inky>
i have this simple idea to improve maemo keyboard (apart from using the function i pointed out to add a key to current layout)
<inky>
i think on d4 and n900 it looks fine
<inky>
on pinephone resolution is bigger so
<inky>
the keyboard draws that input field by not covering entire desktop.
<inky>
and thats not beautiful and makes users feel bad. but it it opened fullscreen i think people would like it much more.
<inky>
or would not even notice that there is a special input field.

My idea about the keyboard, as you know, is not that. I think the ideal is to be able to edit directly on the application and not through a text box. That is, open abiword and edit directly on the document just as I do with a physical keyboard. Additionally there should be some way to play virtual games through a virtual gamepad/keyboard. For
<diejuse>
example, being able to open dosbox and play games through the virtual keyboard/gamepad.
<diejuse>
I am a dosbox lover and being able to play games from Maemo Leste seems like a great preference to me :D
<bencoh>
:)

The good news is that I have been researching for a few days and I have "almost" achieved it.

<inky>
so i'll reach home and share the email
<diejuse>
OK. Later I will look into creating an account on jabber.
