i am sorry to express hopes that irritate you sometimes, but you left me the hope. you said some 'registers' could be read under cyanogenmod on d3 and it might reveil some clues on whot is happening.
<inky>
and for 3 years nobody read those registers, i don't even know what are those.
<inky>
btw tmo doesn't allow viewing pages with protonvpn for some reason. :/ proton ips are listed as bot and dangerous in some lists i guess.
<Wizzup>
inky: I literally did this just two weeks ago or so
<Wizzup>
waiting for uvos to take a look
<inky>
wow thank you!
<Wizzup>
I spent several days on it and I got stuck, but I did what were likely the required dumps
<inky>
i appreciate it very much.
<Wizzup>
we want the same thing ;)

Well. I have already solved the rotation issue completely. It works manually through running a simple shell script I created, executed from a "desktop command execution" widget. I have documented it here https://github.com/diejuse/chroot_Maemo-leste_on_Android#orientation
<sicelo>
nice to see DCEW is useful :-)

diejuse: there should be a sensor to report location to mce

diejuse: did you see my comment ^^^?
<diejuse>
#freemangordon Yes but mce is not working with proot on Android. :(
<diejuse>
I have to use tricks continuosly
<freemangordon>
how's that? what happens if you start it as root?
<freemangordon>
or, you still have the system bus issue?
<sicelo>
i think it's android problem ...
<freemangordon>
ok, but what problem?
<sicelo>
i.e. linux doesn't 'see' the sensor
<diejuse>
proot is a technique that works for non-rooted devices. It doesn't actually mount basic directories like /sys or /proc.
<diejuse>
In addition, smartphones with more modern versions of Android still have more restrictions.
<freemangordon>
well, if it is in /sys, why not?
<freemangordon>
ah, no /sys
<freemangordon>
I see
<diejuse>
Yes, it is android problem. Proot works withour superuser rights
<diejuse>
I am doing my tests with a mobile phone with Android 14 (Galaxy Z Flip5). I am dealing with many limitations.
<sicelo>
fwiw, there are mainline supported SoCs (sdm845) where you don't get the sensors in /sys, even though running mainline. the sensors are hidden behind some other processor that specifically takes care of the sensors.

But hey, I'm very happy because many things are working and it will allow everyone with a modern or old Android to pseudo-install and use Maemo Leste to try it out.

uvos: do you have some time to test the sphone module code tomorrow or in the weekend?
<Wizzup>
diejuse: can you not symlink /sys/ inside the proot to /sys outside it?
