looking at litedram a bit: "sys_clk_freq": 50e6, # System clock frequency (DDR_clk = 4 x sys_clk) <-- does this mean fastest signal generated/received by litedram is 200mhz? I thought ddr3 was like 300mhz minimum

Hammdist: I've not looked at litedram, *but* IIRC you can run DDR3 without the internal DLL enabled. Then you can run said memory a lot slower than 300MHz

perhaps part of the answer is that it is DDR3L, not DDR3 per se

Hammdist: DDR3L merely means 1.35V operating voltage instead of 1.5V, to the best of my knowledge
