<lh> I'm having some weird issues with CSD on GNOME. I can't seem to move foot windows sometimes, and clicking on the title bar just makes the window disappear behind whatever other window is in the same location. I figured out I can move the window by super+dragging on the terminal area, and the CSD titlebar then draws itself without clearing itself to form a wonky trail following my drag path that disappears when I let go?
<trylletre> you could try play with csd.preferred in the config, but unsure how those work on gnome

<john3245> hello
<john3245> i noticed whenever i hover over foot i get a cursor error in my wm logs
<john3245> err: render.c:3455: failed to load xcursor pointer 'text'
<john3245> i'm on swaywm, i saw in manual something about XCURSOR_THEME being set by the compositor, mine seems to be empty, size is set to 24 however... what should theme be set to?
<trylletre> i used to get the same. my understanding: the 'text' pointer is the thing you see when you normally mouse over text and it looks like that vertical bar thing
<trylletre> what that means is the default cursor theme (whatever is loaded while not set) doesnt have an image for the text pointer
<trylletre> its not a real error aside from having a different cursor that what is attempted to be loaded
<trylletre> when i swapped cursors it went away and i do get a vertical bar over foot now, but i cant say i care much.. if you want to make it go away/try something try setting `seat * xcursor_theme THEME SIZE` in sway config
<trylletre> the themes are.. maybe in /usr/share/cursors? i dont know, but you can look around, you probably only have one theme anyway if you never installed anything else

<dnkl> lh: that's weird. Has it always been like this, or did is start after e.g. an update of something?
<dnkl> the fact that the CSD titlebar leaves a trail almost *have* to be GNOME bug, as foot cannot render outside its own window
<dnkl> I don't have GNOME setup here, on my private laptop, but will make sure to test after my vacation is over
<dnkl> trylletre: foot uses the 'text' cursor to indicate that the application is *not* capturing the cursor. This means e.g. mouse selections can be done without holding Shift. When the application does enable mouse capturing, foot changes the pointer to a pointer. In this mode, you need to hold Shift to bypass the application capture, to be able to do mouse selections.
<dnkl> Other than that, failiure to load the cursor is completely harmless
<trylletre> ah, that makes sense, was wondering what the two cursors were for
<trylletre> thanks :)
