dnkl changed the topic of #foot to: Foot - fast, lightweight and minimalistic Wayland terminal emulator || 1.8.2 || https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot || channel logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/foot
<ericonr> craftyguy: probably here too :)
<craftyguy> heh ok. I'm trying to figure out how to set the font size for fnott.. But don't see an obvious way to do that in the config. I added the size after the font name for options that set font, but it seems like it was ignored
novakane has joined #foot
<dnkl> craftyguy: it should work the same way as in foot, i.e "fontname:size=12"
<dnkl> craftyguy: check fnott's log output to see which font, and at what size, is being loaded
<dnkl> sosodank: re. DECSDM, better to rip that band aid... :)

<dnkl> sterni: https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot/pulls/643 might interrest you
<sterni> dnkl: oh! did that break in 1.8.2?
<dnkl> sterni: yeah, unfortunately...
<dnkl> don't no if it is clang version dependant though
<dnkl> but I was able to reproduce with clang-12.0.1
<sterni> damn I have added tests for this but forgot to check them last time around
<sterni> failed with 7 and 11 as well
<sterni> so seems to be universal
<dnkl> sterni: you ok with applying a patch in your build? Or would you like a new release?

<sterni> patching is fine
<sterni> I'll test it later when I have commited this huge WIP change in my nixpkgs repo :)
<rumpelsepp> Could it be that desktop notifications via OSC777 and osc9 are currently broken?
<rumpelsepp> Can anybody confirm?
<ifreund> rumpelsepp: OSC9 doesn't seem to be listed here and there's a caveat to OSC777 support: https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot#supported-oscs
<rumpelsepp> OSC9 is in the manpage.
<ifreund> ah
<dnkl> rumpelsepp: ifreund: OSC 777 is a generic "call out to a script" escape in urxvt.
<dnkl> 'notify' is a semi-standard script
<dnkl> though I don't think it's actually included with urxvt
<dnkl> rumpelsepp: in any case: foot will not trigger notifications when the window has focus
<rumpelsepp> ah, that might be the issue.
<dnkl> perhaps this behavior deserves an option
<rumpelsepp> yeah, works
<rumpelsepp> thanks!

<testuser[m]> does anyone notice curses programs having weird color with foot ? eg htop with default colors https://0x0.st/-VUt.png
<dnkl> testuser[m]: have you installed foot's terminfo?
<testuser[m]> yeah its the same whether i use foot's terminfo or disable it and use generic xterm-256color
<dnkl> testuser[m]: so... I'm looking at a side-by-side comparison with xterm (default htop config) and can't see any difference... what are you comparing with? Which version of foot?
trylletre has joined #foot
<testuser[m]> 1.8.2, let me get another wayland terminal to compare with. Was comparing with X terminals (not side by side) and with termux
<dnkl> testuser[m]: are you by any chance running tmux, or screen, or similar?
<testuser[m]> no
<testuser[m]> give me some more time to get another term, forgot alacritty doesn't work with this shitty nvidia driver
<dnkl> testuser[m]: no worries, take your time :)
<testuser[m]> hmm now that i compare closely they all seem to have the same effect where the text is in a weird color, could you anyway send an ss of default htop ? foot config https://termbin.com/7yj9
<dnkl> testuser[m]: not at the computer right now, but will screenshot next time I am
<testuser[m]> thanks
<dnkl> testuser[m]: http://0x0.st/-V0L.png
<dnkl> that should be your foot config, and default htop config
<testuser[m]> Yeah what's "troubling" me is most of the text is "normal" colored but the text in fields is light brown-ish which doesn't match
<testuser[m]> Anyway ill stop bothering you now, since as i said this seems to happen everywhere
st3r4g has joined #foot
<dnkl> testuser[m]: it looks like it's "dimmed" (i.e. "echo -e '\e[2mthis is dimmed text\e[m'")
<dnkl> either that, or it's using an explicit entry from the 256-color table
<testuser[m]> Hmm other examples can be clang warnings being full black text, and catgirl (irc client) showing usernames as full black (like clang warnings)
<testuser[m]> I'll bump again if i get proper comparisons
<testuser[m]> (These 2 look fine elsewhere)
<dnkl> testuser[m]: I think in htop's case, it's using "bright black"
<dnkl> testuser[m]: yup, that's it
<dnkl> try changing bright0 in your config
<testuser[m]> Thanks, I'll check it
