<Stalevar> jaeger, is it all needed? I mean just one line insmod efi_gop was enough in my case. Loadfonnt and stuff wasn't necessary
<Stalevar> GOP is the default protocol, so you should be able to locate it on all UEFI firmware. It can probably only fail if you're on an old EFI (pre-UEFI) machine, like an Itanium-based computer or a Mac released before 2009.
<Stalevar> So efi_uga is rather rare thing
<jaeger> Stalevar: not all needed, no.
<jaeger> If you switch to gfxterm a font and one of the gop or uga is needed, but not otherwise
<Stalevar> what are other command for, such as gfxterm and loadfont?
<Stalevar> In my case I needed insmod efi_gop, linux /boot/vmlinux root=/dev/sda2 ro and that was all
<jaeger> loadfont just loads a font for gfxterm to use, gfxterm is a graphical mode, can do higher/native resolution as well as themes if you're so inclined
<Stalevar> but first line set root=(hd0,gpt2) failed when I inserted an USB drive
<Stalevar> I guess some combo of search should be used instead to search crux rootfs
<Stalevar> or it can be skipped since grub seem to know the root volume anyway
<Stalevar> What do you recommend to read to understand stuff like terminal_output gfxterm
<Stalevar> GNU GRUB manual?

<cruxbot> [contrib/3.7]: bash-language-server: 5.1.2 -> 5.2.0
<jaeger> Stalevar: the grub docs are sometimes good, sometimes not, sadly. So a combination of the docs and other internet searching
<SiFuh> jaeger: Rhe documentation for the iso build isn't up-to-date with the new links and new URLS on the page.
<SiFuh> Rhe/The
<jaeger> Which page?
<SiFuh> Is there a new one?
<jaeger> Are you referring to https://crux.nu/Wiki/BuildingISO?
<SiFuh> Yeah
<jaeger> ok, I'll take a look today
<SiFuh> Thanks
<SiFuh> jaeger: I don't know how to deal with WIKI's but do they have variables like PHP does? Therefore you can change 3.0 to 3.7 in a config and every page is automagically displaying 3.7? Same with URL changes?
<jaeger> I have no idea if pmwiki supports that, might be possible
<SiFuh> If so, might be a good feature to implement to reduce work loads
<jaeger> Updated links but there are other improvements that could/should be made to that page, will give it some thought in the near future.
<jaeger> Thanks for the heads up
<SiFuh> jaeger: All good, it is much easier to follow now moreso than before
<SiFuh> Thanks

<ukky> Question, how many of CRUX users use 32-bit executables? I have built x86_64-cross-gcc with 64-bit musl libc and it does not seem like musl supports multilib.
<jaeger> No idea, don't have any kind of census... I can't speak for all but I definitely still use some... probably mostly steam games
<ukky> There is always a glibc-chroot available for 32-bit support in that case.
