SELinux is last in priority list. Need to master Crux first; patching Crux next; creating ports next; creating cross-toolchains next; building cross-Crux on Crux-host next; maybe then SELinux
<farkuhar>
ukky: why not OpenBSD for your headless router? The pledge and unveil syscalls look like a better fit for your preference "simple, minimalistic setup/design" compared to SELinux or even AppArmor. https://lwn.net/Articles/767137/

farkuhar: If I had more free time and less projects to handle, I would test OpenBSD. In my circumstances it is more practical to have similar setup (OS) on all of my systems. Headless router has plenty of resources (1U rackmount server).

netbsd with secmodel_securelevel=2 and rump kernel for network driver isolation would also be a fit for 'simple, minimalistic setup/design'

<shahab>
I want to use SSH session during the installation
<shahab>
so after booting the media
<shahab>
I do a "/etc/rc.d/sshd start"
<shahab>
the key files get generated
<shahab>
but I cannot SSH to the running setup
<shahab>
I cannot even SSH from another Virtual Console (ctrl-alt-f2) to the same machine:
<shahab>
ssh root@127.0.0.1
<ukky>
shahab: set root password
<shahab>
it just times out
<shahab>
ah ok
<shahab>
I did add "PermitRootLogin yes" to "/etc/ssh/sshd_config"
<shahab>
but didn't try that.
<shahab>
thanks ukky
<ukky>
you are welcome
<shahab>
it did not work.
<shahab>
it looks like there's a firewall enabled
<shahab>
is it true?
<shahab>
neither "sshd -d" nor "ssh -vv" spit out anything about being connected.
<ukky>
is your network up?
<shahab>
it's all inside QEMU
<shahab>
one virtual console to another
<shahab>
127.0.0.1
<shahab>
oh
<shahab>
damn
<shahab>
let me check
<shahab>
ifconfig
<ukky>
ip address show
<shahab>
yes!
<shahab>
"ifconfig lo up" did the trick
<shahab>
now I'm gonna rinse and repeat with "eth0" and actually from outside QEMU.
<shahab>
thank you ukky!
<ukky>
glad being usefull
