<SiFuh>
zorz: Wrong topic. He is talking about high tariffs to pull money in.
<SiFuh>
What that clown Trump is doing is raising high tariffs to bring manufacturers in
<SiFuh>
Why do you think Chinese products are shit? They use high tariffs just as Reagan said.
<SiFuh>
And the Chinese government is helping those companies which is just like what Reagan said.
<zorz>
anyway.... i am curious to see how it will end
<SiFuh>
Reagan is talking about raising tariffs to make money at the expensive of foreign countries. Trump is raising tarrifs to force those countries back to a reasonable level.
<SiFuh>
zorz: Me too
<zorz>
it is so complicated that i think nobody knows for sure
<zorz>
lets see.
<SiFuh>
zorz: And have you noticed that all the tariff hikes Trump has imposed are still less than what the other countries are/were charging
<zorz>
ooo yes
<SiFuh>
I think if you listen to politicians and media they are talking shit.
<zorz>
truth
<zorz>
politicians never worked a day in their life.
<SiFuh>
Well, Trump has.
<zorz>
from internship to an office... they become congreesman
<zorz>
yes Trump also hit 2-3 bankrupties
<SiFuh>
Yep and they are leeches and ticks that suck the blood money out of their citizens
<zorz>
heh
<SiFuh>
Yeah and one of those bankruptcies was paid off my the Jews.
<zorz>
who else... they have the cash
<SiFuh>
I don't trust Trump. He was even in my dream the other night. You should read it. Hold on...
<SiFuh>
Quite a strange dream to just randomly have.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: ukky: ^^ Check out the dream I had a few days back.
<zorz>
this is agatha christie :P
<SiFuh>
I know the name
<SiFuh>
A novel writer?
<zorz>
yes
<SiFuh>
I just looked says Author for detective stories. How is this a detective story?
<zorz>
she was a thing for ages like your mother
<zorz>
just came to my mind
<SiFuh>
zorz: Your mother wears combat boots!
<zorz>
haha
<zorz>
anyway was fun talking to you... got to go.
<SiFuh>
My brother's friend had a dream. She wrote it and sent to my brother. I said "Sounds like Myanmar. Suu Kyi. Maybe there is a coup de'tat" and a week later there was.
<dlcusa>
SiFuh, I agree--strange. Maybe it has something to do with the markets.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: I really don't think so. I think it was much deeper than that. The markets as far as I am concerned are fine. I actually agree with the forced tariffs. Too many nations and I live in one, have been sucking off the US citizens like a big fat udder.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: I buy a car part from the US and not only do they charge the US taxpayers a huge price to import it. I think 23% but I also have to pay 65% on import fees and they often try to add the postage fee into the price of the product you buy.
<SiFuh>
It's disgusting. Motorcycle are so over-priced here because they want to protect their car industry. They include motorcycles under automotive. They don't even make motorcycles here.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: We can import Harley Davidson bikes from Asia with high prices, but no one can afford to import a US made one.
<SiFuh>
Yet USA charged only 2.5% to import Asian vehicles.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: Also you know how dreams become fuzzy over time? This dream is clear as day in my mind even today. Every part of it. Like a video.
<ukky>
zorz: no. My system with Debian has prebuilt binary packages, with the exception of DAHDI kernel modules. But for those I only override build parameters, as default config does not build kernel driver my PCI device uses.
<SiFuh>
ukky: I was thinking about making an embedded OpenBSD system when 7.7 comes out. So if the TV box crashes everything should be okay
<SiFuh>
Not going to be easy since certain partitions need to be rw but I think I can find a way
<ukky>
SiFuh: Ha. I consider OpenBSD already embedded. It is so minimalist.
<SiFuh>
ukky: It can get smaller. I think less than 128MB but more than 64MD for AMD64
<SiFuh>
ukky: My original server was always mounted Read Only. But these days it is more difficult because the root partition needs rw access
<ukky>
Ideally, root partition must be RO.
<SiFuh>
I still have some partitions RO. /usr /usr/local /usr/X11R6
<SiFuh>
ukky: I don't think ideally. I think it must be.
<ukky>
Ideally, only /var and /run (if you have /run) should be RW.
<SiFuh>
And if I put /var as a MFS partition then if it does crash, everything is gone because it was only in RAM.
<ukky>
I am polite, thus I say ideally.
<SiFuh>
My /tmp is MFS
<ukky>
Oh, yes, /tmp also is RW
<SiFuh>
Memory File System = MFS
<SiFuh>
Kind of like Linux tmpfs
<ukky>
Logs are better to save on non-volatile medium (remote or local). If system crashes, you can inspect the logs.
<SiFuh>
Usually from overheating because it runs 24/7 and plays Country music to keep the dog happy.
<SiFuh>
Hahahaha
<SiFuh>
When she was a puppy I'd play country music so she wouldn't feel alone and I'd leave her with my old clothes after wearing them. So she is kind of bound to it now. Other music she seems to hate.
<ukky>
Hook it to your car radiator from moonshine project to cool it down (while radiator is not in use).
<ukky>
Kidding
<SiFuh>
Don't give me ideas
<ukky>
Ha
<SiFuh>
I installed the Aluminium water tank today for the wipers. Had to make an aluminium braket.
<ukky>
Nice. Does plastic brakes due to the abuse on off-road adventures?
<SiFuh>
ukky: I thinking, I might need a tiny hole in that lid though.
<ukky>
You need the hole, to compensate expansion
<SiFuh>
Usually no. But the tank is old and I'd rather pay 98 MYR for a 2L aluminium box, than buy a replacement for over 270 MYR.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Yes. It sucks the water back in to allow air flow. Afraid it will cause a problem with stain on the pump
<SiFuh>
strain*
<SiFuh>
When I go to pick up my tires. I will ask if anyone has a drill press to drill a hole for me. I don't want a large hole and they should have some decent drill bits.
<ukky>
Maybe install a nipple in the tank, attach small tube and fix it somewhere at the bottom of the chassis.
<SiFuh>
ukky: I did think about that. A breather valve or something.
<SiFuh>
It would be easier to drill through the box than the lid. But I think I will just go for the lid.
<ukky>
Yeah. Do you fill washer tank with regular water? or special liquid?
<SiFuh>
Regular
<SiFuh>
Wife's care is regular with soap. But later will change to regular and that anit-wiper stuff that you don't really need to use the wipers for. I can't remember the name. Bottle has been sitting downstairs for 2 years.
<SiFuh>
care/car
<ukky>
I have to use the one that does not freeze at -40°C
<SiFuh>
Coolant! Hahaha. I use coolant with anti-freeze. I think the ratio I use is 60 distilled water and 40 coolant
<SiFuh>
I just find my engine runs cooler on it than with just distilled water.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Here in Asia they just tap water. I am 100% against it unless emergency
<SiFuh>
ukky: The rear wiper bottle also needs to be replaced, but I am not bothered with it since the window never gets dirty
<ukky>
That tap water from your picture is bad for any system in the car.
<SiFuh>
I only use that for the wipers. Everything else is definately never going to be tap water.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Many years ago there was a guy down the road that would pay me to wash his Jeep Renegade. One day his wife comes home with steam coming from the bonnet. He was cursing and swearing "Fucking women, they know shit about cars." He was spraying everything with water from the hose and then started filling up the radiator. I just thought to myself "Guess he doesn't either"
<ukky>
50-70 y.o. vintage cars might be okay with tap water in the radiator. Modern cars are not.
<SiFuh>
I couldn't do it. I don't the thought of corrosion in my mind.
<ukky>
I think water just evaporates, leaving less coolant in the system, and then engine overheats even more, and then you have steam.
<ukky>
Special coolant does not evaporate as easy as the water.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Last year there was a puddle of purple under my car. Thank goodness I don't use water in the radiator. I guessed it was a coolant leak even though mine is green. The car leaks water from the airconditioner. So I got under the car and saw it. I couldn't repair it. My fat hands (As lavalball would say) can't fit there. So I got some skinny Malay guys to replace the stopper for me.
<ukky>
It is nice they use different color for different liquids.
