And also very good news for Australia. Yet the Australian media is trying to lie to the public saying it is bad for Australia and the Australian farmers. They are far from the truth.
<SiFuh>
it goes like this. Worker: "I got a dumb question" Boss: "Let's hear it" Worker: "How do you get the lifters in?" Boss: "You're a genius. I screwed up. I got a little ahead of myself. Gosh Dang"
<SiFuh>
Hahahahaha I laughed so hard.
<SiFuh>
zorz: ukky: I wonder when farkuhar will finish his Islamic prayers and visiting family. The fasting had finished 4 days ago.
<ukky>
SiFuh: my most complex work on a car only involves wheel swap (winter/summer), and TPMS info reprogramming.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Hahaha, I'm an Australian male from the 70's we grew up fixing our machines because it was cheaper to do it yourself then be bonked in the wallet by the mechanic.
<ukky>
But I still manage to fsck that work up. Once I installed wheels but forgot to install spacers, so I had to redo the job just to add them.
<SiFuh>
ukky: My father had a hatred towards Mitsubishi. He always called them the "Bush Rangers" because they'd charge a fortune for a part.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Spacers are technically illegal in Australia. But my truck has spacers here. I have a larger set in the store room for the wider tyres.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Since the 80's my father would always demand me to help him. I was appauled at the mistakes he'd make. But he was a good teacher to be honest. I remember in the US he was watching some carpentry show and the guy on the show made a lot of mistakes. My father turned to my brother and I and said "You see? I am not the only one that makes mistakes. It's normal". No hit of a lie. Both my younger
<SiFuh>
brother and I burst out laughing.
<ukky>
My winter rims are from diffrent model and because of that the spacing between rim and the brake calipers is very tiny.
<ukky>
Rear brake clearance is fine.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Yeah, same with my truck. I use 11.5 and 12.5 rims. So I need different spacers for each.
<SiFuh>
I am talking rim width by the way.
<SiFuh>
The 12.5 are so wide, they should be on the rear of a drag car :-P
<ukky>
ok.
<SiFuh>
This month, I will go get them back. No one has bought them yet, so I will take them back home from the mechanic and keep here for spare.
<SiFuh>
ukky: But that video made me laugh. I didn't see what was wrong, but something inside was telling me it was wrong. Then when the worker made the comment. I burst out laughing. I really hate it when that happens.
<SiFuh>
You almost assemble something then look and realise you forgot something.
<ukky>
I was in this situation so many times.
<SiFuh>
I can say the same for me as well.
<SiFuh>
I spent about a day and a 1/4 assembling an old Grandfather clock that needed repair. I was happy. But when I pulled the weights up. I heard a new noise. Then realised I forgot a metal bush spacer. WTF? And to return it, I had to dismantle 75% of what I had installed
<ukky>
For repetitive tasks, I create a huge checklist, print it, and follow it every season when I need to do the work, like closing swimming pool for winter.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Like the CRUX handbook :-P
<ukky>
haha
<ukky>
for computer, I have KB directory.
<SiFuh>
Most of what is in the handbook doesn't need to be done during install. But it is good to have that list available
<SiFuh>
What is a KB directory? Kernel Backup?
<zorz>
SiFuh: if farkuhars fasting is thorough like his reading he will finish in a month so :P
<ukky>
knowledge base D with howto's
<SiFuh>
zorz: I don't know where he is. He isn't Muslim. I was having a go at him.
<SiFuh>
ukky: Ahh like PDF directory on automotive repairs because they don't sell Gregory and Haynes Automotive Manuals in Asia.
<zorz>
SiFuh: yes you sai it about adolescence... but they already do this, they just admit it publicly
<ukky>
ls -1 ~/doc/kb/how_* | wc -l ===> 416
<SiFuh>
ukky: I probably have half of that in physical manuals in Australia. I told ever "NEVER EVER throw them out" I have manuals for the first VW Golf in that collection.
<ukky>
SiFuh: I used Mitchel (or something like this)
<SiFuh>
ever/them
<SiFuh>
Here most manuals are from Japan and written in Japanese.
<ukky>
I still keep Factory repair manuals for two of my Camry's
<zorz>
I thought manuals from Japan are written in Korean :P
<ukky>
first was 4 cyl, second was V6, made in Japan
<SiFuh>
I have the manual for an Inline 4/V6 Camry 1993 I think.
<SiFuh>
Mine was a V6. But it was called a Vienta but it was a Camry
<SiFuh>
Sold that car on Ebay for 250 bucks.
<ukky>
first Camry was 1990 or 1991 (I forgot)
<SiFuh>
The advertisment was Something litre V6 engine for sale, free Camry/Vienta body and chassis included.
<SiFuh>
It was a full working vehicle. Road worthy too.
<ukky>
I donated my second Camry (14 y.o.)
<ukky>
maybe 16 y.o.
<SiFuh>
Only problem was starting the EC sensor failed and the shop refused to sell me one because according to his records my car doesn't have one. But even though I had it in my hands in front of him. The robot refused to sell it to me. So I went to Jaycar (Like Radio Shack) and bought a box and some resitors and a switch. That way I can control the resistance manually when starting it up.
<SiFuh>
Nice cars. But never really liked them.
<SiFuh>
I didn't mind the latest Hybrid Camry around 2018.
<SiFuh>
Problem is you have to disable half that "assist" shit every time you start it up.
<SiFuh>
ukky: I prefer the physical book. These days everything is on a Tablet. It's kind of annoying. Oil stains on a page is quite find. On a tablet it sucks.
<SiFuh>
find/fine
<SiFuh>
zorz: Asked GPT4 why Madams of a whore house ran the towns in the 'Old West'. I then proceeded to tell me that this is a common misconception then went on telling me that it was a real thing and why. Fscking hell.
<SiFuh>
I then/It then*
<SiFuh>
zorz: Told this ole joke to GPT4 https://dpaste.com/GZGLHZRLZ.txt and it said it was funny. When I asked if it understood. It kept saying the same fucking thing. Over and over and over again. Even though I was telling it "No, that is not what the joke was about"
