[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Good morning everyone! I am having some trouble installing Armbian onto my Xiami Mi 10 (umi) (Snapdragon 865). The first confusion that I am having is wether I should install the official Armbian or the Armbian for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (same chipset than mi 10). As I had found changelogs _somewhere_ that mention that the Mi 10 was officially added.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I had tried to flash one of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Armbians from the Archive (sms boot), however, the bootloader does not seem to work and the phone returns to fastboot.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Has anyone here attempted this before, and maybe could help me? Thanks
<DC-IRC>

[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Additionally I wanted to ask wether the celluar drivers work in this Armbian, as my intent is to use this as an OpenWRT Celluar Router

[Discord] <igorpec> try on forums, don't know if anyone here uses this device
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> 🥲
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Ok I'll open a topic there
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> every device has its own specifics, its impossble to support
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> and this one don't even build as i can see, as there are no images
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Do you know which image they were talking about?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> sorry, no idea about this hw
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Ok
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Aha I see it goes to the github build page
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> If I understand this correctly, it is referring to the normal armbian image found on the github page for arm64 devices
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Could you take a look at it?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I'll attempt to flash that onto the Xiaomi Mi 10

[Discord] <igorpec> i have disabled automatic generation as image doesn't build. that is all i can do until person that added this to the system fixes it
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I am having issues understanding the structure of these builds.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> What are these builds for?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Do they go into the images downloadable on the github page? Or the build tools?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Maybe I can attempt to download a older version of generic arm64 or the build tools which had been able to build the xiaomi image?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Sorry for the inconvenience, I am new to this stuff, I'm trulely sorry
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I will do that
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I currently have the newest on my phone
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> So what I understand is that the generic arm64 Armbian v24.2 added Xiaomi mi 10 support and it had been removed by commit #7513 (latest Armbian is v25.2 as of armbian/os)
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Okay

[Discord] <n4cnr> I dl and am working with the cm3588-nas img but in the armbian-config I see no option to ebanle the dtb overlays
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> was this function removed ?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Make sure armbian-config is up to date (apt upate && apt upgrade)
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> I have I just did all that
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> ok now after a reboot it shows up
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> working to buils the omv nas on the unit using armbian
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> I have found 1 small issue thus far wit omv7 and armbian once install on a sd and try to install it to the emmc . the omv breaks
hbbs has quit [Quit: bye]
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> seems to break the salting
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> omv heavily messes with the system so things like this are kind of to be expected. Try the other way around? Install to emmc, then put omv on top
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> you'll probably want to install to emmc *before* configuring OMV
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> well I just found a issue with the iot build
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> btrfs tools are not installed
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> Error: Filesystem tools for btrfs not installed, exiting
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> and there is no cli img built for this board
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Build one? That's what the framework is made for 😉
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> well I want to have the official img not a unofficial
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but I guess I can
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but why would you not put all the needed tools in a iot build
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> I just figure iot builds would have all the needed filesystem support in them
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> iot builds are intentionally minimal, btrfs is still incredibly niche and questionably stable
hbbs has joined #armbian
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> been using btrfs and armbian on rk3399 for a lon time no issues
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> and since btrfs and bookworm seem to have issues we have to use btrfs
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> ext4 on nvme m.2 I have had issues with it killing drives
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> and btrfs on nvme m.2 seems to work great
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but ok
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but I dont see many cli builds anywhere its all iot and or full desktop builds for rk3588 based units
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but thanks
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> will go build a cli img
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> it *built*, i've no idea if it'll work or be bootable
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> ?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> how to get a cm3588-cli added to community builds
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> seems they only build minimal
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> There is no difference between community builds and DIY build besides latter states DIY and former states community build. They are made from the very same framework and sources.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> so I built a cm3588-nas unofficial and did a update it says all pgs uptodate
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> but armbian-config does not have the devicetree option in it
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> so I cannot enable the overlasy needed
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Awesome
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> I'll download it and give it a try! 🙂
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Maybe I'll try getting it to work if it does not work.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> But I am completely new to this building topic and have absolutely no idea.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Did you build both boot and armbian? Because of the armbian desktop there is only the .sha file
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <schattenwolf2008> Or do I need to download it from elsewhere?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> SGA there is a img and a sha file there
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> yes, it would appear it managed to escape being uploaded, one moment
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> apologies, my ISP are having *issues* right now, uploads are being capped at 200KB/s for no apparent reason

<Hammdist>
been to the u-boot channel, compiled u-boot for 115200 baud speed, but still only garbles come out of the serial port
<Hammdist>
other people claim orange pi 5 uart works, but mine doesn't seem to. is it possible there was a minor hardware revision that fixed the uart?
<Hammdist>
works now with 115200 baud speed (at least getting into u-boot)
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <prahal> I want to build a PR to fix an armbian kernel patch. How to do it? I use to edit the armbian kernel patch but then the diff chunks numbering of the patch files is wrong after my edit of the patch file (adding a plus line or a minus line). As far as I see the process is to edit the armbian patch file. I was told the oppose ten days ago ie create a new separate armbian kernel patch <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <prahal> file for each edit of the existing armbian patch files and then run rewrite-kernel-patches and commit. But that will soon clutter the armbian patch directory if for every fix to each patch file I create a separate new patch file. Plus I tried running rewrite-kernel-patches for my one liner change and I get changes commited for tenth of unrelated armbian kernel patch files for ro <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <prahal> ckchip64-6.12 only as there are many such patch files with numbering not in sync.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> Hammdist: if the uBoot lowered baud works, setting the correct baud in your kernel commands *should* provide proper UART, emphasis on should
<Hammdist>
well problem now is u-boot is not booting my partition table https://pastebin.com/raw/Q8yBnbmS . I actually have only limited knowledge of GPT/EFI would appreciate a pointer if someone can spot why partition 1 is not being booted ..

[Discord] <n4cnr> ok having a issue on the cm3588-nas.. is there a list of what the pwm dtb all do
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <n4cnr> as it seems oneof them is killing the slot 2 of the ncme slots

[Discord] <n4cnr> ok is there a list to explain each pwm for cm3588-nas setup

[Discord] <beelsebob> Hi, I see a few weeks ago that JohnTheCoolingFan merged in a PR for support for the BTT CB2 (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6860). I don't see that in the downloads page though. Does that imply that for now at least I need to build my own, or am I searching in the wrong place for a binary?

[Discord] <menu> likely have to build yourself if it's not been auto-built, if you don't have the necessary capacity, i can run a build overnight but i can't test/guarantee it at all
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <beelsebob> let me give it a go first, thanks 🙂
