Since Friday I'm the proud owner of a Lenovo X13s - currently running vanilla Ubuntu 24.10 (surprisingly well) Is there any reason, that could be worth it, to try the (older) armbian-ubuntu?

The only two things, that are not working, is the camera (not important) and KVM (EL1/EL2-issue).

and mysteriously, the battery does not charge to >80% while an OS is running (also in Windows...)

ahh, and s2idle sleep is "not deep enough".
