<Hammdist> hey all. I boot from mmcblk0 a custom armbian that is memory resident. so I expect to be able to unplug the SD card and plug another in, but it does not work so simply. in dmesg I get `mmcblk0: recovery failed` etc
<Hammdist> am I missing an explicit eject or something?
<Hammdist> if I try eject after unplug it does not succeed

<Hammdist> menu: well that's what I'm not sure on. I just assumed the sd card could always be hot swapped
<Hammdist> I am on orange pi 5 (but my armbian install is modified to load into memory at boot and not utilize the card anymore at runtime)
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <menu> Hammdist: i'm not certain the opi5 supports hotplug for the SD card, even if booting from the NVMe, hopefully someone else can verify

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> I have OS on nvme and boot loader on mtd on my opi5 and switch sd cards frequently since I use it to build and write images for other boards

<Hammdist> I have prepared an sd card to boot opi5 according to a method that used to work, but it no longer works when I ported it to a new build environment, bummer. the opi5 does not have workable serial port. what is the most realistic way to set it up to boot in qemu to get an idea what might be going on?
<Hammdist> I suspect something is going wrong even before the linux kernel is loaded. so running qemu with -kernel vmlinuz -initrd initrd.img ... would not help much
