Howdy. Is there a way to unfreeze the armbian version via the command line instead of the menus in armbian-config?
<TheSHADOW>
What about updating the firmware?

<TheSHADOW>
I just tried to submit a suggestion for command line access on the armbian website, and it wants me to sign up for an account. I'd rather not, and I wish it did so prior to my typing out my suggestion. Not polite behavior.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> what do you want to do exactly??
<TheSHADOW>
Here's a for instance:
<TheSHADOW>
Command: armbian System Firmware
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> Have you tried running armbian-config --help? That would give you some clue about how to run armbian-config with UI
<TheSHADOW>
Durp.
<TheSHADOW>
I didn't find any mention of this anywhere. Thanks.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> My first step before I use any command in general. I run <command> --help
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> My first step before to use any command in general. I run <command> --help
<TheSHADOW>
Seems to still have problems because my scripting is going through sshpass which doesn't give it a gui.
<TheSHADOW>
Or not a gui, but a smart terminal.
<TheSHADOW>
Blah.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> --longhelp
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> 🙂
<TheSHADOW>
@gambl0r's gamble didn't pay off. :-P
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> Used to with some apps back in the day
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> @TheSHADOW armbian-config is also just a bash script. You can see its source code - https://github.com/armbian/config
* TheSHADOW
is nearly done doing the twenty systems that needed updating manually :-P
<TheSHADOW>
So my next suggestion is, disable the text ui stuff when doing the menu stuff so automation like sshpass.
<TheSHADOW>
And my next question is, after updating, why is it when not in gui the display is blue and blinking?
<TheSHADOW>
Once the gui starts it's normal, but until then it's seizure-inducing. :-P
<TheSHADOW>
Seems to only be happening on machines running on 4K TVs.
<TheSHADOW>
Some don't blink.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> Regarding suggestions, we are pretty low on manpower. So if you need any changes, I will suggest you to implement it and raise a PR
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> After updating what? you never mentioned what board you have, and I haven't seen blue blinking display on any boards that I have
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> The file is not downloading. I probably will get seizures waiting for it to download
<TheSHADOW>
Is that red instead of blue? Or something else? I'm partially colorblind.
<TheSHADOW>
IDK
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> Anyways, rockchip display is under active development, so I wouldn't be surprised to see issues with the same
<TheSHADOW>
Mmm.

<TheSHADOW>
Going through the source here... I could guess at what needs to be edited to disable the display system but I'd probably make mistakes, and I'm sure some of the options would need tweaking.
<TheSHADOW>
Not picking out where it initializes, and some of the commands the current scripting uses may require it, which would need modification.
