<DC-IRC> [OFTC] <mjt> can one armbian-install (or manual) to an existing (mounted) filesystem on MMC?
<DC-IRC> [OFTC] <mjt> I'd love to mount btrfs with custom options, namely, to enable compression
* DC-IRC [OFTC] <mjt> takes a look what armbian-install actually does...

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> As I told you yesterday. If you install from sd/USB to eMMC/USB/NVMe you can choose what filesystem the eMMC will be.

<DC-IRC> [OFTC] <mjt> so basically I ended up installing whole thing manually, keeping only the kernel+dtb from armbian install

<peterm6881> Any plans for official support of the Orange Pi Zero 2W and Orange Pi Zero 3?
<peterm6881> Since it looks like Xunlong are consolidating around these at entry level and retiring a bunch of boards

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> I've been following along <https://lemariva.com/blog/2019/10/orange-pi-zero-lts-upgraded-alternative-old-raspberry-pis> on an orangepi zero (512 mb original) to try to get the wifi working.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> ```sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces:
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> auto lo
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> iface lo inet loopback
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> auto eth0
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> allow-hotplug eth0
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> iface eth0 inet dhcp
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> allow-hotplug wlan0
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> iface wlan0 inet manual
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> iface default inet dhcp```
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> I disconnected the ethernet and can no longer access the ssh
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> I continued to set up this: `/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf` and did this:
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> `apt install iwd
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> systemctl disable wpa_supplicant
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> echo -e "\n[device]\nwifi.backend=iwd\n" >> /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf`
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> Then this: `ifconfig wlan0 up` but not this: `ip link set wlan0 up`...
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> THEN I disconnected the ethernet cable. Sorry about that.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> Project goal is to get the organepi working, set up a webserver displaying webcam footage.

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> Project goal is to get the orangepi working, set up a webserver displaying live webcam footage. Obviously first step is the wifi and then everything after it is just general linux stuff.

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> If you need reliable wifi then the first step is to throw the opi0 in the trash. Xr819 is more or less broken by design and has been worked around for years at software level to compensate for design flaws.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> @peterm6881 there are community efforts to bring support for those into the build framework. Check forums. From Armbian developer team itself there is no interest in supporting those. There are tons of other things that need to be taken care of beforehand.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> If I did what I did with something like a raspberry pi, would it have worked?
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> If I did what I did with something like a raspberry pi or an odroid or whatever, would it have worked? I feel like probably not but I'm not sure.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> If I did what I did with something like a raspberry pi or an odroid or whatever, would it have worked? I feel like probably not but I'm not sure. I only need this thing to work, on average, for 15 seconds per 3 minutes, at any random tmie.

I only need this thing's to work, on average, for say 10 seconds per 2 minutes, at any random time during that 2 minutes. I just want to see if my garage door is open.

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <davidc1601> until it works and I can see the image.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> Hardware should not matter since the thing you describe is a userspace application. So in theory any device with WiFi running Debian or Ubuntu should be able to achieve service a webserver
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> The website you linked to is using ifupdown (/etc/network/interfaces file) but today usually things like netplan on ubuntu or systemd-networkd on Debian are used.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <viraniac> I would disagree with you there. The wifi does work fine. Its known to give problem when having the zero running for weeks, but that can also be easily handled
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <viraniac> @davidc1601 What image are you using exactly? Amy reason you didn't tried using nmtui to connect to wifi?
