<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Oh yeah it'll get there. "Gross negligence" is just the Rockchip way
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> @mackahan you don't think "any" vendor does anything right... Just take any of your various comments on Broadcom, Allwinner, and Amlogic and I think they speak for that... so I think that "Gross neglicence" comment you just made means nothing
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> @mackahan you don't think "any" vendor does anything right... Just take any of your various comments on Broadcom, Allwinner, and Amlogic and I think they speak for that... so I think that "Gross neglicence" comment you just made means nothing (sorry to say...)
<archetech> arm is and always has been a badly flawed ecosystem
<archetech> for sbc's phones maybe better
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> archetech: they all are... Everything is made by humans... x86 is a mess too.. if it wasn't why would we have so many OS's/vendors/etc
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> That's why I don't see why anyone thinks there is ever going to be anything perfect
<archetech> not about that
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> We just build distros to run the best we can on the most we can
<archetech> x86 has always had a very acceptable ecosystem
<archetech> for me

<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> *shrugs* I'm not too worried about your opinion of my opinion, I was just replying to Archetech's use of "gross negligence" with the supplemental clarification that the ridiculously slow mainline pace is the SoC vendors fault.

<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> just because this is what it is, did you try to unplug/replug the monitor? I haven't tested recent stuff to know really
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Did you install KDE plasma yourself? There's been no interest here because no one remembers the XU4 and Tinker Board actually have GPU's 😄

<DC-IRC> <nicod_sbc> We had a simular situation on VIM3 not outputting on high-res on X11. Works on some displays and not others. Wayland did work. I don't think it's the same issue.

<jschwart> Tonymac32: no, I did not try unplugging/replugging the monitor
<jschwart> I installed KDE plasma through armbian-config
<jschwart> is there a particular recommended device? would that be the platinum ones?
hipboi has joined #armbian
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> I won't speak to that, since I don't quite understand the infrastructure/agreements. I generally don't recommend boards either, since everyone has different needs/expectations.
<jschwart> alright, clear, thanks :)
<jschwart> I'll see if I can play with it some more, before Wayland had odd colors, but now they are fine
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> The tinker board 1/1S/R2 is 32 bit, so a lot of people would steer you away from it, I find it perfectly suited to most anything you might want to do with a device of it's class. Depends on the task.
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> And that's interesting
<jschwart> it should be possible to run Waydroid, I had it running before, but they aren't offering armhf packages, I need to build them myself
