<underscore>
I follow ubuntu dist-upgrade instruction and its works
<underscore>
But need to freeze firmware update first
<archetech>
works yes is it good doubt it
<archetech>
one version is ok im talking 2 or more
<underscore>
if more than 1 version upgrade, i think it need to be upgraded multiple times by the version order
<underscore>

<celeez> Hey guys i recently updated my armbian to newest version allowed for orange pi and now rdp doesnt seem to let me connect. did something change with RDP in recent versions? i get to log in screen -> enter correct login cridentials -> force closes the window automatically and takes me back to ip selection window.

<celeez> Hey guys i recently updated my armbian to newest version allowed for orange pi and now rdp doesnt seem to let me connect. did something change with the armbian RDP installer in recent versions? i get to log in screen -> enter correct login cridentials -> force closes the window automatically and takes me back to ip selection window.
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> using search in this discord i see that there are a few people who had this issue and they say something about xauth but dont show how to fix it
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> go check the /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini file
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Are there username/password lines defined?
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> (I don't use it but reading config)
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> you can set a username if you'd like but if you dont it will just ask you for username when it gets you to login screen it seems like people are saying the nwe armbian versions RDP installer doesnt include xauth in it like it used to
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> might just need to manually install xauth package if the armbian autoinstaller isnt including it anymore
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> going to try that
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> yeah do a dpkg -l | grep xsuth
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> er xauth
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> if it shows up as ii its installed otherwise yeah you'll need to install it
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> thats exactly what it was. looks like for some odd rason armbian removed xauth from the autoinstaller for RDP. the autoinstaller only installs xRDP and xorgxrdp
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> they forgot xauth
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> lol
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> huzzah!
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> cool...
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I personally use x over ssh
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> this is good info, I'm about to instal xrdp on my latest lunar/plasma build
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> yeah just manually grab xauth and all is well
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> this is good info, I'm about to install xrdp on my latest lunar/plasma build
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I avoid rdp as much as humanly possible
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> seems odd to remove though when theyve had it prior
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> ive honestly never tried a differente client to remote connect, im a newbie
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> anything you recommend over rdp?
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> if you like it.. .rdp is fine... I just prefer this because I need many connections to the same host at once
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> ah i see
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> rdp is a bit heavier for that
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> for ease of use and for managing multiple remote connections, rdp is pretty good, depends on the client too
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> like on macos I've got 2 different rdp apps, both by microsoft
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> only reason i used rdp is cuz when i first got my pi and installed armbian i saw it had an autoinstaller for rdp
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> and it worked back then xD
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> so ive just stuck with it and never had issues until updating armbian to newer version
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> it's really nice when it works by enabling it in armbian-config, especially if you ever tried to setup vnc over wayland
<DC-IRC>
<celeez> yeah the autoinstaller is good for newbies like me thats why when it didnt work firs tthing i did was run here lol
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> @gambl0r you can ssh -X/-Y right from the shell with Xquartz and get X11 support
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> (I do that or use one of my several Linux VMs on this mac)
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> I could, I just like having the config options xrdp affords and the window management full screen features etc
<DC-IRC>
<gambl0r> which I could probably achieve by using x11 like you say
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I've got to run Linux/Win/FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD so my VM software isn't really optional for me
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Be back in a little while... errand time..
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> ok I need 2 pr pushed since they where reviewed and passed
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> so i can start pushing up bookworm desktops

<.richn> where are the files for configing builds with appgroups
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> I need to configure bookworm builds
<DC-IRC>
<efectn> why dont we have common theming for all editions
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Exactly....
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Exactly....The mechanism already exists in Debian/Ubuntu's core
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> we do all desktops have they armbian theme
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> @.richn Its "how" you are doing that is not "common"
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> I know all the new bookworm do I am working on now
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> right now as its not a theme deb we set it with skel files
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> It is not using tools that are already builtin and present in the distribution
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> its also set in the desktop in the armbian and debian files on each desktop
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> There's also too many cross dependencies
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> which have been illustrated already
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> ?
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> the only things used to theme right now are the backgrounds
<DC-IRC>
<.richn> and icons that are assigned
