<e3ef13f4ff44> i want to buy nanopi neo3 lts 2gb
<e3ef13f4ff44> is there better money-to-value option?

<DC-IRC> <Werner> money-to-value always depends on what you intend to use it for.
<DC-IRC> <Werner> For a crude NAS with USB3, GBe in a very small package go for it.
<DC-IRC> <Werner> I used to have one too with 1G of memory but unfortunately died on me

<e3ef13f4ff44> for nas
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> high performance https://forum.armbian.com/topic/24200-armbian-for-odroid-m1/ or just a shared drive?

<stipa> does a GPU works on Jetson Nano?
<stipa> the nvidia users are stuck on 4.9 kernel
<stipa> but it's stable
<nekomancer[m]> m1 and m2 very expensive.
<stipa> you've got bricked cheap ones on ebay, you have to remove the pass from the flash chip
<stipa> they're password locked
<nekomancer[m]> I see only one item in eu, new
<nekomancer[m]> no one locked in whorld
<nekomancer[m]> s/whorld/world/
<ArmbianHelper> nekomancer[m] meant to say: no one locked in world
<stipa> in apple world "locked" means you can fuck yourself
<stipa> the device is just an random eeprom reader
<stipa> now, i have no idea where the eeprom chip is in the M1
<stipa> T2 chip
<stipa> hmm

<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I have a weird question:
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> I have a 65W Anker charger that has a single USB C port. I ideally want it to power 2 things: 1 of them is an SBC that uses micro USB for power, and the other is a router that takes 12V 3a DC. Adapters/cables exist for both, but given that I only have 1 USB C port to work with, I would need a splitter to power both devices.
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> My question is: will a splitter work to power 2 devices with differing power needs if the source is 1 PD port?

<DC-IRC> <Werner> No. It will either give 12V or 5V. Both the same time isn't possible.

<DC-IRC> <NicoD> Buy a PSU with both a USB-A at 5V and USB-C PD. I've got a few of them. USB-A is always 5V and seperated from the USB-C PD. So pd can give what I need on SBC and I also have 5V for my display. Using it like you describe is indeed a good way to fry your SBC. Can't get 5V and 12V from one port at the same time.

<focus> Hi, still searching for solution to JMB585
<focus> While working on that, came across a nasty problem
<focus> The normal ssd is divided into boot | root partitions
<focus> I made copies boot | root | boot | root - each with unique UUID
<focus> So I can set fstab to the second pair and set in my Orange Pi5 uboot settings root to second root partition, flash it and reboot
<focus> All OK again with system booting up on 2nd boot partition and 2nd root partition - or so it appears
<focus> The first 2 partition are not mounted
<focus> But if I zero the first boot partition, the Orange Pi5 can't boot :(
p0g0__ has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds]
<focus> This partition has nothing to do with uboot or fstab or flash settings - so what gives?
<focus> I took backup copy of first boot partition and when it is restored, OP5 can boot again.
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> or just buy one of these and cover all scenarios... (they have EU,UKAU versions as well)
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> heheh
<focus> Some hidden reference somewhere in Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_gnome_desktop.img.xz to first boot partition?
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> I use them and and they work great
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> Decided to change my charging setup to a 47W 2-port instead. Thanks for the help!
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> @TGVoid btw when using these devices.. you really don't want to be using "chargers" in general.. make sure its listed as a "power supply"..
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> What exactly is the difference? I'm only familiar with USB specs, and it seems like everything I'm buying is compatible with PD
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> do you have the link? that's "technically" not a charger
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> chargers have a specific way they operate ... problem is in computing ... the "chargers" don't care about voltage and can go up and down...
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> yeah thats for a phone (battery)
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> that's not a good thing to use on a sbc
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> The "voltage" inconsistency can cause problems
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Its better to get a dumb (fixed voltage... with adequate current) power supply
IgorPec has joined #armbian
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> I thought that was handled by the phone, and that it steps up and down to specific voltages though
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> Also, is this more like a "might not work/might crash" situation or a "will fry the sbc" situation
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> No... PD just allows different rates.. being a "charger" will let it fluctuate within its range
lyri has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Both... and depending on which sbc.. some of these are very touchy
lyri has joined #armbian
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Like the Rock5 for example hates inconsistent power
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> The Renegade?
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Let me look at its spec
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Being a 3328 and low power it should be more tolerant than many others I would expect although I defer to the channel to see if anyone else has one (I have many others but not that SoC)
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> Alrighty, also would this still be an issue if the 2 devices (the router and the SBC) both require a constant voltage, assuming that the charger is made properly?
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> I won't be using a phone-like device at the same time
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Its best to always keep consistent voltage...
<DC-IRC> <Jason123> I just have a regular micro usb power supply that is made for pi 3 and renegade since I have mine setup headless server
<DC-IRC> <TGVoid> Yee I have one too, but I just really want to declutter

<ajshell122> Hey, I have a question. I'm trying to get composite video out to work on my LibreComputer Renegade (ROC-RK3328-CC), but I can't get it to work, even with help from the librecomputer IRC
<ajshell122> Even with the Firefly images
<ajshell122> The guy there said "maybe ask on Armbian about old ayufan images". So that's what I'm going

<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> armbian forum is your best shot. i don't know that anyone would touch this code in years
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> from people that are active in development
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> also check tv boxes section, some tvboxes with this SoC might be using some of those old kernels ...
