do_install:append:othermachine()DvorkinDmitry: That should be `MACHINEOVERRIDES =. "mymachine:othermachine:"`. However, with the erroneous `MACHINEOVERRIDES` you'd get with your version I would have expected `do_install:append:othermachine()` to fail and `do_install:append:mymachine()`. Anyway, you should use `bitbake-getvar MACHINEOVERRIDES` to verify that the variable has the correct value...

sorry :)

Saur[m], thank you! Today I found what was wrong with my attempts. I'm using multiconfig. I add MACHINEOVERRIDES to my multiconfig/othermachine.conf and got it working! with MACHINEOVERRIDES in conf/othermachine.conf only it was not working
<zelgomer>
Saur[m]: i think (based on previous questions) that his mymachine is a base machine description, and his othermachine are revisions that build on the base mymachine. so that's why he wants both in MACHINEOVERRIDES
