it seems like enabling icecc by doing ICECC_DISABLED = "0" will actually cause the sstate hashes to differ for various tasks, causing rebuilds. case in point, our build servers build with the icecc bbclass inherited (INHERIT += "icecc") but ICECC_DISABLED ??= "1". then, when another normal workstation or similar tries to build the same image but with icecc enabled, various base packages like systemd are rebuilt

digging down, diffsigs could tell me that for instane patch-native's do_install task had "Variable do_install value changed: - set_icecc_env"

so on hosts with icecc disabled (but with the class inherited), that variables seems to not be part of the hash anymore and thus the sstate hashes start to differ

barath: ICECC_DISABLED was working long time ago (when the documentation was updated), but I no longer use icecc.bbclass and it's quite likely that it got broken again since then

but it's definitely not expected, whole reason for ICECC_DISABLED variable was to inherit it in DISTRO config and then let each builder decide if it should be enabled or disabled (e.g. without access to the cluster)
