Hello!
<Donutery>
I’ve been trying to set up River, and have been able to load it so I am presented with a background color and mouse pointer, but none of the key binds in init work. I can’t spawn foot, exit river, or anything else. I can change the background color by modifying knit so it’s being read. Any suggestions?

Hi ! I tried to set up river for dual monitor use, and I found that I could not switch focus of the mouse to another monitor. Keyboard is fine by using "focus-output next", but the focus of cursor is still remaining on original monitor. Am I missing something?
<leon-p>
Guest6: river has cursor warping, if that is what you want, but you have to explicitly enable it
<leon-p>
man riverctl, search for set-cursor-warp

I’m running River 0.1.1, the latest on void Linux

Do you use the example config from the github repo? It is not compatible with old river releases
<Guest6>
okay, I checked again. The problem is when I use wlr-randr to turn off one of the monitor, and turn it on again, the set-cursor-warp setting stops working. Potentially a bug?

<leon-p>
that's weird, the state of the cursor warp option should be totally independant of output set, if this occurs on river master, please open an issue on gh

Yup, using the example off the latest repo. Where can I find a working example? Thanks!

You can clone the repo and checkout the release you are using

I am using river-git in arch. I could open an issue later.
<leon-p>
that would be great!

By switching “super” to mod4 I got some things working and can now exit river. But, keybinds to spawn commands are still non functional. With no keybind I can spawn firefox from init (though, it fails to load any fonts…) but not foot

<leon-p>
are you sure everything is correctly set up? firefox failing to display any text means something is messed up and I suspect that same issue is what messes up foot
<leon-p>
do you have font-config and harfbuzz installed?
<leon-p>
and actually any fonts? :)

You got me there, never installed my own fonts!

you can also try changing the foot keybind to write foots logging to a file

I installed a font pack and now foot works! (Hooray!) Firefox Now works when I open it with “riverctl spawn Firefox” but it doesn’t like opening with a keybind
