hello everyone
<V-T60>
what kind of status bar can you recommend for use with river?
<V-T60>
i heard of waybar, but it looks very scary for me
<leon-p>
we have a list of recommended software in the github wiki. maybe one of the bars there suits your needs better
<V-T60>
can swaybar from sway be used somehow? or someone may have configuration files for waybar
<V-T60>
thank you
<V-T60>
leon-p: i will try to look through that
<leon-p>
V-T60: swaybar can't be used with river, however I remember someone porting it to river

<Nosrep>
i use waybar with basically default settings
<Nosrep>
it's good enough
<V-T60>
Nosrep: apparently, i found yambar. trying to compose first configuration file
<V-T60>
Nosrep: how does that look for you?
<jao>
it's probably too scary unless you know xmobar already, but i use i3bar-river and `xmobar -TSwaybar` as its status command

Hi, im trying to do the Forbidden Thing (use nvidia), because I have a laptop with hybrid graphics and in order to use a monitor over usb-c I apparently have to use the dedicated gpu
<Snektron>
After some messing around I got some output... but only on the usb-c monitor

I know this is unsupported and all, but I was hoping someone happens to have some advice related to that?

DemiMarie1: if it works in other wlroots compositors, it should work in river
<leon-p>
oh, whoops
<leon-p>
should probably read backlog before replying to things

Demi: hm have not tried that yet. I would prefer proprietary drivers though...
<Snektron>
I have an idea which requires a little more effort on my part but i need to know first if i can make a virtual monitor that lets me get video output from wlroots
<Nosrep>
pipewire?
<Snektron>
If thats possible i can make my own program which outputs to monitors that are not connected to the igpu
