<whitequark[cis]>
<Wanda[cis]> "ice65 seems to have a proper..." <- it has a JTAG on some "NC" balls on SB branded hx8k
<Wanda[cis]>
huh.
<Wanda[cis]>
my own bet would have been that actually there are 4 normal IOBs that magically transform to TDI/TMS/TCK/TDO if you ever drive TRST_B high
<Wanda[cis]>
... I even have a guess as to which IOBs that would be
<whitequark[cis]>
wait, is that so?
<whitequark[cis]>
because i have one of those HX8K boards with the sole specific purpose of testing this
<Wanda[cis]>
well, I don't really have a way of checking it myself
<Wanda[cis]>
it was just my guess from looking at how pinouts differ between ice65 and ice40
<Wanda[cis]>
and noting that the ice65 JTAG pins correspond to ice40 IOBs; specifically the bottom-most IOBs of bank 1 which is exactly where I'd expect JTAG to be
<Wanda[cis]>
<whitequark[cis]> "because i have one of those HX8K..." <- ... I'd be very interested in poking at that board next time I'm at your place
<whitequark[cis]>
can you check if those balls are connected anywhere on the hx8k-b-evn?
<whitequark[cis]>
if not we'll have to design a new board
<Wanda[cis]>
sure; later though, have to run tn
<Wanda[cis]>
s/tn/rn/
<Wanda[cis]>
nope; only 2 out of 4 are connected
<Wanda[cis]>
it should be R14 R15 P14 P15 in CT256 package AFAICT
<Wanda[cis]>
oh, by the way, would that happen to be an official board?
<Wanda[cis]>
because I find it very interesting that these 5 pins in particular are grouped in the same place in the datasheet
