teepee: I've played with the minkowski shell example you posted earlier. It works amazingly well in creating an outline of the object, but unlike the screenshot it actually keeps the top shell as well.

pca006132 Re. signing issues: macOS 15 (where notarization enforcement was tightened) was released recently, and the install base is apparently growing rapidly.

<t4nk_fn>
it's not exactly an openscad thing I guess, but..
<t4nk_fn>
I just had to mess around until I broke things I guess :|
<t4nk_fn>
openscad's theme is messed up; it doesn't have a dark theme anymore like the rest of my system
<t4nk_fn>
because I was messing with different DEs
<t4nk_fn>
bleh, nevermind I guess.. you're probably all mac users :|
<t4nk_fn>
don't think it's a user thing, but more of a system wide thing
<t4nk_fn>
I do have another boot where everything is still okay

would be kind of nice if I could find out what the difference is that causes one startup of openscad to be fine, whilst the other scorches my eyes
<t4nk_fn>
this one seemed to be due to having installed qt5ct

didn't realize just installing the thing would make it active

the whole thing makes your programs look like they are doodled up by a toddler with an attitude problem, a development disorder and a limited set op extremely conflicting color crayons

teepee: Ok, made a bit more progress. Realized the minkowski sum works if the surrounding cube has the exact same height as the object that you're trying to create a shell from. The issue with that is that it fails if your object doesn't have a regular, flat top.

I guess I could take the minkowski difference of that hollowed object again now, but I can't quite wrap my head around it, just yet
