kintel: i'm completely newbie in openscad, just unix sysad, that wanted some 3d printed gizmo for his simrace rig .. and somehow ended up customizing one of found models from thingiverse .. so .. completely no clue, what openscad related might be here in this city ..
<Church->
otherwise, for generic tourism, Riga just one of many normal/but not overly special cities to visit. Some good stuff, some old buildings in centre in "old-Riga", some atractions .. for someone living here it all seems "nothing special" :)

kintel: I'm online for the first day of the coding period. I saw that you mentioned me a couple days ago in #4595, and yes that's something we'll discuss. I'm also curious whether the user obliviand on GitHub is still around. While working last year I saw lots of contributions from Jason Childs in the blame, so he could be a good additional person to consult if possible

<kintel>
joseph_ I haven't seen him around for a long time, but perhaps someone else has?
<gunnbr>
seen obliviand?
<kintel>
He did implement most or all of the VBO-related code, but IMO it needs significant refactoring as it tries to do too many variants and ended up being not very efficient
<othx>
Sorry, I haven't seen obliviand.

In terms of the GLSL stuff. I did some investigations and concluded that the only reasonable solution is to update OpenCSG to use GLSL as well. I was mostly curious how you managed to get GLSL to work last time, and if it still works
<joseph_>
Do you mean whether my changes for GSoC 2022 still work with the code on current master? That's something I could investigate today. A few minutes ago I restored my old gsoc-2022 branch but I kept your rebase on a different branch within my fork
<kintel>
yeah, I'm interested in whether you can render using GLSL in preview mode without rendering artifacts
<kintel>
A quick check could be to render in preview mode with Show Edges
<kintel>
(on master - it should trigger rendering artifacts, but may work on certain GPUs)
<joseph_>
So is the problem being caused by one portion of the rendering pipeline using vertices from the fixed-function code, and another portion getting slightly different positions from the GLSL shader? Would this theoretically get fixed after everything is transitioned to modern OpenGL?
<kintel>
I believe that's the problem
<kintel>
Yes, if everything (including OpenCSG) uses GLSL to generate vertices, I believe that would solve the problem
<guso78>
are you discussing about whats currently written as "#version 110" in the shaders ?
<kintel>
guso78 even older; this is about fixed function vs. "!!ARBvp1.0" vs "#version NNN"
