<midfavila> there was an OS in R4RS scheme running on a hardware interpreter a few years ago
<midfavila> it's still available if a bit hard to get sourcecode
<midfavila> it's called DreamOS
<midfavila> like maybe 12k lines of scheme?
<midfavila> complete r4rs JIT system on baremetal, x86 compatible as long as there's an IBM BIOS, has a FAT driver, an editor, a few other things
<midfavila> honestly if you had a TCP/IP stack and a few other things it'd be pretty usable
<midfavila> open hardware 4:3 e-paper monitor via DP over USB-C, HDMI, and DVI over HDMI
<sewn> woa
<midfavila> could be worth checking out their schematics to see if the technology could be integrated into a reform
<midfavila> i think the reform has eDP
<midfavila> if so it would be a fairly easy modification to make, i think
<midfavila> how sick would that be
<midfavila> laptop with mech keyboard, trackball, and e-paper display
<midfavila> running plan 9
<midfavila> /g/ bait
<riteo> lmao
<riteo> it would be very very interesting indeed
<riteo> holy moly 60hz
<riteo> do 60hz epaper displays really exist

<midfavila> man
<midfavila> i love it when distro wikis don't keep their docs up to date
<midfavila> i've convinced my boss to digitize all of our papers using nextcloud but i made the foolish decision to install alpine on the shitty little dell home theatre PC that is my budget
<midfavila> and the info about fastcgi and lighttpd on the wiki just isn't right. you can follow the instructions to the letter and still end up with missing shared objects
<midfavila> ngl just gonna say fuck it to being contrarian
<midfavila> installing debian on it
