08:59 <Wanda[cis]> anyway, the answer is that it basicallly latches on to some unrelated signal as a possible JTAG port, tries to verify it, fails, continues with trying more pinouts

09:00 <Wanda[cis]> it could be misinterpreting some other protocol which just happened to transition at the right moment, it could be literal noise if there are missing pullups, etc.
