<tmpm697> dnkl : can u merge two function `Paste from clipboard` and `Paste from the primary selection` to one? so user can just like `ctrl-v` to paste from clipboard to foot?
<tmpm697> i also put whatever copy from foot to os clipboard `selection-target=both`
<tmpm697> so a user can just don't need to remember two separate keybindings for pasting, just know that they're copied smth and then just paste it, which is very convinient.
<tmpm697> so `select to copy text on foot, copy text from other apps -> system clipboard -> ctrl-v to paste to foot or other apps`
<bookworm> having two clipboards is a feature, not a bug
<bookworm> what do you expect to happen if you have stuff in the clipboard and then select some text? What should now be pasted? Can't be both as the two are unrelated
<novenary> also if a client copies to the primary selection when you do Ctrl+c, that's a bug lol

<dnkl> pasting both would be kind of fun though...
<tmpm697> dnkl bookworm this is my only use case of using linux terminal and clipboard in general: copy some text from whatever app (include foot) -> ctrl+v to paste -> move on
<bookworm> sure, then use the clipboard
<bookworm> selecting text shouldn't put things there though
<tmpm697> i konw having separate clipboard helps in some cases but i'm not into that case and having options to merge those two features to unify clipboard would `really` help in my case
<tmpm697> know *
<tmpm697> `select text in foot -> copy -> to system clipboard -> ctrl+v to paste`
<tmpm697> `select text in other apps -> copy -> ctrl+v to paste to foot`
<dnkl> tmpm697: the problem is there *are* two different system clipboards. Which one should your combined paste paste from? Both can contain (different) texts.
<tmpm697> dnkl : ah thanks, i got that, that merging behavior can get from set clipboard paste to both right mouse + ctrl+v and sending selection to both. awesome
