<novakane>
was updating the zig-fcft example and saw it was wrong so I tried the one in fcft and have the same problem, can't see what change could be the cause of that
<dnkl>
novakane: you need harfbuzz >= 5.2
<dnkl>
see fcft's latest changelog
<dnkl>
baltazar: url mode is supposed to snapshot the grid while active (to freeze it, while active). However, the snapshot is taken *after* the cells have been tagged with the "url" attribute. This means some escape sequences, like in your example, can modify the grid in a way that leavs the URL attribute set in some cells, when exiting url mode
<dnkl>
the fix is to snapshot the grid *before* tagging the cells
<novakane>
ah damn, thanks, missed that, guess I need to wait for void to update it then
<dnkl>
novakane: you can downgrade fcft in the meantime
<novakane>
yep, I'll do that :(
<novakane>
wouldn't the harfbuzz version throw an error when building it though?
<dnkl>
novakane: yeah, perhaps we should check the version in meson.build. It's a fairly small bug, and only affects bitmap fonts. But on the other hand, everybody uses emoji fonts, so the bug does affect a lot of people
<dnkl>
you could also switch to an SVG-based eemoji font :D
<dnkl>
that's what I use
<novakane>
dnkl: which one do you use? Never looked at SVG based emoji font
<dnkl>
started using them to test fcft's SVG implementation. Liked them, and stuck with them :)
<novakane>
thanks I'll try them!
<novakane>
hmm should the first line be like that, I can't remember lol https://0x0.st/o0V4.png
<dnkl>
novakane: yes. The first line rasterizes the string char-by-char. Thus there's no shaping. And that means no ligatures (or, in the case, no multi-character glyphs)
<novakane>
right, I wasn't sure, been a long time I used the example, thanks
<dnkl>
I should try to replicate the example from the README, and include the command line used (aka the exact input string) to generate it
<baltazar>
dnkl: yep, that seems to fix it
<dnkl>
baltazar: let me know if you notice any other issues with the patch. If not, I'll merge later
<baltazar>
sure
<manio>
ok
<manio>
ah, sorry ;)
<novakane>
dnkl: that would be nice yeah

wael[m]: the point is this is open source. sometimes things get fixed right away. sometimes it takes years. complaining about how long an issue has been open doesn't help.

dnkl: do you intend to migrate your projects to sr.ht? I saw you have them hosted there too, but no additional resources (mailing lists, issue tracker, etc)
<dnkl>
gbrlsnchs: no such plans at the moment. I use sr.ht as a mirror (and currently not entirely up to date...), but nothing more
<wael>
That's odd, I was pinged like a thousand times
