<baltazar> hmm, there appears to be some kind of bug with selection and scrolling that I can only reproduce in irssi (I'm guessing it's because it doesn't scroll the whole screen)
<baltazar> if I have something selected and a new message arrives, it scrolls the screen up along with the selection
<baltazar> but actually the selection seems to be only visual. if I start a new selection, it doesn't disappear

<tkna> Is there any way to jump to the beginning of the buffer when scrolling with `shift+page up/page down`? (like gg/G in vim or home/end in browser)
<tkna> dnkl: I will try to set it up. Thanks!

<manio> thx

<dnkl> baltazar: I don't use irssi. Can you try to find another reproducer? Or at least try on a non-patched sway/wlroots?
<baltazar> dnkl: sure, I'll try both of those, I just reported it first in case it was already known
<manio> i am using irssi and sway
<manio> i selected a text
<manio> now new message arrives and all seems fine (at least for me)
<manio> the selection goes up
<dnkl> baltazar: manio: in senpai (IRC client), the selection does not move up when the content is scrolled when a new message arrives. But, I suspect that's because senpai doesn't issue any actual scroll escapes, but probably just redraws the screen.
<dnkl> but baltazar's problem seems to be more related to screen updates.
<dnkl> a simple test is to try copy/paste and see if the pasted text matches what's highlighted on the screen. If not, it's screen update related
<baltazar> dnkl: I tried mimicking what (I assume) irssi does by printf-ing '\e[2;10r\e[?1047h'
<baltazar> I can make the selection go up as expected, but it doesn't get buggy

<dnkl> baltazar: which version of foot are you using? If latest 1.13.1, it might be worth testing latest HEAD. There were a couple of rendering fixes there, targeting KDE primarily, but could also fix this, **if** what you're seeing is the result of a bug in foot's rendering of scrolled content
<baltazar> dnkl: I'm on latest master
